For those in the area, he'll be on w/ Mike & the MadDog tomorrow on WFAN as well, supposedly for a whole hour I think they said.

You can listen to WFAN on the computer too at wfan.com if you're not from the NYC area.

Apparently he's got a book to promote, so I guess that's why he's making the rounds on a bye week.

He will also be on Quite Frankly tomorrow. I'm looking forward to the Mike and the Mad Dog show tomorrow those of you with the YES network can also watch it on TV, he'll be in studio for a full hour. Weis is really working the TV cameras with the bye week.

On a side note Corey Lidle called up Mike and the Mad Dog Monday to defend himself, because they were accusing him of bad mouthing Joe Torre after the Detroit series. They basically ripped Lidle apart on air, and two days later he died. I'm sure they feel pretty quilty about it now.

I was listening to that interview live the other day, and I listenned to them today. They seemed upset, but at the same time didn't feel they'd done anything necessarily "wrong" (which I agree w/ them about-at the time I & a whole lot of other people thought that interview was great radio and highly amusing. No way they could've known this was gonna happen...). I listen to these guys all the time though-they've been a lot nastier to other sports figures in the past.

It definately was pretty weird though to have heard him just the other day on the radio, and then this happens.

I also heard that interview live, and when I found out it was Corey Lidle who died in the plane the first thing I thought of was that interview. I was watching Mike and the Mad Dog when they found out it was Lidle, and Dog looked pretty upset about it.

I agree though, it certainly wasn't their fault. The Daily News had an article today bashing them about it, I thought that was very unnecessary, perhaps the writter has an axe to grind with them

Oh yeah, the Daily News and the Post both throw them under the bus whenever they can for the most part.

Just finished listening to Weis on WFAN, an excellent interview as usual.

They talked about almost everything in the past year and a half or so. Francesa asked about Clausen, but he couldn't talk about it obviously. These guys don't bother to follow recruiting at all most of the time, and they'll even say they don't bother to b/c they don't put any stock in star ratings, they just wait until the kids prove themselves in college. So the fact that Mike Francesa even knows Jimmy Clausen's name is actually pretty impressive. They asked him about taking a pro job and of course he said no he doubts he'd ever do that, but they didn't believe him and frankly neither do I. I don't think he'd leave before winning a title at Notre Dame, but once he does that, if the right NFL job came calling (i.e. Giants, Patriots, Cowboys), I could see him leaving somewhere way (hopefully) down the line.

i don't see him taking any pro job till his boy is done with school. CW has the perfect job and its a perfect fit for him. He just got done building their dream home. I believe he is at ND for the long, long haul.

To be honest, if he wins an NC at ND...I think he will retire instead of Pros. That woudl be the pinnacle of his career...and he has been clear that he WANTS to retire in his 60's to spend time with his family.

I guess I don't doubt him on that.

only pro job he'd leave for would be the Giants. I doubt he'd have any interest in the cowboys and that crazy owner Jerry Jones.

The interview was very interesting, they even brought up all the MSU stuff. They asked Weis about the "We'll never lose to MSU again" comments he supposedly made during an alumni speaking over the summer, and Weis said he never does alumni functions during the summer so he doesn't know where they got that from. They also brought up the comment about the slap on the sidelines, and Weis said he jokingly told the media at his presser that he got hit by friendly fire, and then the next day he was being called a liar. He went on to say that he wouldn't respond to it anymore in the media because it would serve no purpose to go back and fourth.

Interesting that Weis NEVER does alumni funtions over the summer. Makes JLS look like an idiot considering he said those comments were made over the summer at an alumni function. Personally I think JLS makes this stuff up just to motivate his team, not a bad idea I guess seeing how he's an awful X's and O's guy.

In all fairness to JLS...those "never lose to teams like MSU" comments were ALL OVER the ND boards. I remember people talking with glee about them.

I am NOT saying Weis said it, but I do know that people on ND boards were repeating them as truth for a while.

i just dont get it, Rome conducts great interviews with quality guests...he has Charlie on twice a year, and gives him nothing but respect...his show is fun, funny, and he does have solid sports takes. I often hear people say things like "what sport did he play?" I think you can have an opinion on a sport even if you never played it...i always like to ask "what sport did Al Michaels or Bob Costas play" yet i love listening to there opinions on players and sports...the same with Jim Rome.

I was watching the first few minutes, but I didn't hear Rome mention him being on the show, so I got distracted by something else. I will watch him tonight on Quite Frankly, though.

I dunno. I've never enjoyed either Rome or Stephen A. Rome always comes off to me as condescending and borderline abrasive, and Stephen A. is just loud and fairly annoying. Unfortunately, both always have very good guests.

Neither hold a candle to PTI's Kornheiser and Wilbon. PTI is easily the best talk show on tv.

lol, well, right after I posted that, I noticed exactly what you are talking about.

Yeah, he is annoying, but he's on our side, and I'm going to go with the "lesser of two evils" approach.

And really, all televised debate is annoying. Sports debate might even be dumber and more annoying than political.

Jim Rome has his rep because of his radio show, which Charlie was on...its a national radio show...he is far far better on radio than on tv

I did notice that CW hit the road this week doing alot of public interviews. He also released his book this week. During a bye week of course. No coincidence I'm sure.

Well, yeah, it's basically the only time of the year where he's relevant, but not "on the job". So it's a perfect time to get his mug on tv, plug his book, and do some good work for Hannah and Friends.

Also, I wouldn't doubt that if he's on the road, he's doing some recruiting while he's out.
