It's time for me to eat crow. Unlike other posters who are wrong and simply disappear (GD93) or deny it until they are blue in the face (Phork - the Navy embarrassment argument was classic), I will admit when I am wrong.

And I was wrong about CW. I thought he was the man to lead us back to national glory. He's one of the best recruiters in the nation, his first 2 teams played w/ a cockiness and a swagger that I LOVE, and the team was progressing midway through the season.

But I was wrong. The team has REGRESSED. That's on the coaching staff. I was at the U$C game, and the team looked pathetic. I knew we were to lose, but the team had no life after the 1st quarter. IN A RIVALRY GAME!!! I got the feeling that the boys just weren't fighting for their coach; I got the feeling that they didn't believe in him anymore. I might be wrong, and the quotes after the game suggest i am wrong. But I'm just saying I got the feeling that they didn't believe in him, or at the very least they weren't fighting for him.

I'm saying this as a CW guy. Regulars who know my posts know I put thought into what i say. I hate that i feel this way, but I hate F***ING losing every game more. CW is a class guy, and I feel for him. I want him to stay, but I know that it's obviously better that he goes.

But until we have a qualified replacement, I don't want to see him go. These recruits have me excited as hell. I'd hate to see them go, which you know a few of them will if CW is fired. But I won't argue w/ those who want him fired. How can I? But if Weis stays, I'LL PUT ALL MY SUPPORT BEHIND HIM AND THE PROGRAM going into next year. We all should. Our boys deserve that.

NDOM, Phork, and others - I was wrong, and you were right. Props.

Midwestguy: No props, you're here to inflame, not contribute. Still waiting for that announcement you guaranteed...

I wouldnt say that I'm right or you're wrong. It was just my opinion and I agree that we shouldnt fire him unless we have a KNOWN replacement. Welcome to the dark side my friend. lol

NDinL.A.,

I left for a bit too after being told one of my posts was basically ignorant and uneducated... and the post was an opinion.. it tells me a lot of where some of the real education comes from some of the people on this site!!!! I even got scolded from one of the moderators,.. rightfully so and I deserved it for calling a member a name,... repeatedly!! . I am on two different motorcycle forums, a TN Titans forum and a soccer forum and of all of these, this forum is the only one I am part of where the members curse and put down members' OPINIONS!??!!? I really don't understand it sometimes. Props to you for your comments and I too am crossed about CW. I will always back the IRISH and whomever is in charge to get us back on top. For those who read this and want to bash, go ahead, you are probably going to do it anyway.

The strong possibility still remains that the team lost confidence and CW, as a new head coach, has yet to figure out how to revive that confidence. CW has shown that he is willing to change and grow, as evidenced by his work with Frank Beamer last offseason.

CW needed to address the offensive line last season because they have been the nagging problem. I think that he will fire Latina. I think he's going to contact some of his former players, specifically o-linemen, and ask them if they think that the playbook is too complicated.

You and I both know that the offensive's confidence is in the tank because JC can't get time to throw and the running backs have to fight in order to get back to the line of scrimmage. The defense is then forced to make stop after stop, get 60 seconds of rest on the sideline and then go right back out there again. If we could sustain drives it would build the confidence of the entire team.

If he is given the chance, and I don't think he will be, he might just put it all together. The recruiting is there, he certainly isn't lacking of self confidence, and the resources are there, too.

We have to fire Latina and if that doesn't help than yes, CW must certainly go.

Just throw some hot sauce on the crow...it'll be tasty. Hell, deep fat fry it...I'm pretty sure you could deep fat fry a shoe and it'd be good. :)

Anyway, it sucks that Weis didn't work out because he had a nice NFL pedigree, the ND background and the recruiting chops to be a cool coach. It just didn't pan out. Sometimes luck is a mean spirited bitch like that.

"Welcome to the dark side". LOL. Makes me think of the promos for the "Valkyrie" movie. "The conspiracy begins December 25th..."

Well, if that's the model, than the "conspiracy" against Weis began a while ago and has only been gaining members.

What NDOM said. Look the fact is we are all here because we love Fighting Irish football. Some of us just saw where this train wreck was headed.
I don't take any glory in proving anyone right or wrong. But I stand by my Navy arguement. If you wish to continue that, I would love to in PMs.

Lets just all agree that we want whats best for this program. IMO its not Weis, and frankly we may lose out on a decent coach if we wait until next year.

Nobody wants to see ND back on top than me. I wear Irish gear all the time and catch a lot of flack for it. All I say is " it's easy to support a team when they are winning...a true fan sticks with them through thick & thin". I just don't think CW is the right answer....I want to see a team with some desire and heart...and I don't see that especially with the O-line and the offense in general. Tate & Floyd have been the only real bright spots. It's time we got a coach that will instill some ATTITUDE in this team.

I don't know that they are the ONLY real bright spots. They're prbably the most consistent and obvious bright spots (on offense anyway). There are many "bright spots" on defense and specials teams .... McCarthy, B. Smith, H. Smith, Bruton (graduating though), Anello, .... just to name a few.

it ain't over yet, he's back for one more year. do i have confidence that he'll do anything worth while next year....hell no, but i'm a red sox fan....so our mantra from the past, "there's always next year" is quite appropriate.

let's go irish.

i too have been called ignorant here..... i was just posting my feelings which i thought is part and parcel of a message chat board........ i am really disgusted that weis is returning for another year...... he lacks the ability to charge the players up...... he is not a head coach IMHO...... he just doesn't get me excited for 09....... that is my 2 cents......

i agree with you, sir........ we do have a nice pair of receivers in tate and floyd....... we need someone to inspire and lead our capable players back to at least 10 and 2...... right now the media and others are somehow enjoying this...... i certainly hope that this program with get back to being a national title contender.
