The clock was mismanaged yet again.

On the final fruitless drive, we went from 26 seconds to 9 seconds with a timeout in our back pockets. Unacceptable. With 26 seconds you have 4 cracks at the endzone from inside the 10. Time ran out on us on a 3rd down play. We left 1 bullet in the chamber. It kills me.

If you burn the time out to save time with 26 seconds left then a sack ends the game.It also takes any running plays out of the playbook that he might have wanted to try with 9 seconds left. Please get a grip.

Dude, the final play was forth down.

No, genius, the last throw was 3rd down. The roughing penalty gave us 1st down from the 4. Then 3 misses in a row leaving 4th down with 0:00 on the clock. If the clock doesnt run inexplicably for 17 seconds at the line their is time for 4 plays with ease assuming all passes.

Has the clock always starting running after an unsportmanlike conduct on the defense or is that new the past couple years with all the clock changes?

And if he calls a timeout to save time then a sack ends the game. Is this really that hard to figure out? Ok so lets say Weis calls a timeout with 26 seconds left, then on first down Clausen gets sacked. 10 seconds run off the clock trying to get reset and you have to down the ball wasting a down. So then you have two plays into the endzone. You have to think ahead, which is why Weis gets paid as the head coach and you get to bitch on the internet.

No that is it, even if you DONT call the timeout, how in the hell do you let 17 seconds run off before you get a play off?

My mistake, you are correct. You are also a fucking genius to think that we lost this game do to poor time management! We lost because our D sucks!

I dont know if we win or lose based on this Im just saying we probably get 1 more shot on 4th down if need be. Coaches jobs are to put your team in the best position to win and that wasnt the best position to win. And getting the 1 second back was miraculous because it means the play before took only 3 seconds which is about as quick as himanly possible. If they didnt get 1 second back then I promise you this issue is magnified 100 fold.

Ok so then your not bitching about saving the time out your just bitching the time ran off, make up your mind. IF you haven't noticed Clausen has to make the proper read before the play, so that takes time. You can't just call a play and then run it as quick as possible without reading the coverage, that's how bad things happen. Please stop grasping for straws just because you personally don't like Weis and can't see the big picture of where this team is headed.

I am not a Weis supporter, but you can't blame that on him. Jimmy took 10 secs off the clock snapping the ball. Are you ready to get rid of him too.

PS. I apologize for the foul words used in prior post. Just a little worked up.

I'm with Weisbank on this one. Although not to his extent. After that one play, I was like "Jimmy is gold here, and plenty of time left"... Then I look at the 9 seconds left.. I was then like "Uh.. wtf just happened?" 2 plays if your lucky.

BTW, Jimmy is too smart to take the sack. But Kamara? Really?

Man alive do I get tired of you clowns who say "you dont like Weis" over and over. The guy fucks up the clock constantly. CONSTANTLY. Purdue handed him a timeout in that game in the same situation. Thanks Purdue.

I dont give a shit if Weis did this or Bear Bryant, the clock ticked off 17 seconds - tell me you werent wondering wtf was going on as you watched it go under 10 seconds, hell I heard the crowd start going nuts.

No, I'm actually serious about the question. I thought the clock stopped after an unsportsmanlike conduct on the D, and it ran after the Parris play...

Obviously ND wasnt aware of this either because they took the normal amout of time to get the play off.

Actually Charlie for the most part is pretty amazing with clock management. What does Purdue's coach calling a timeout have to do with Weis' clock management? What mistakes has Weis made with the clock in the past? Today's was certainly debatable, but I'd take 9 seconds and 1 timeout from the 4 over 26 seconds and no timeouts from the 9. We had one less play, but the D still had to worry about the run...I'd say even trade off.

You're right. People can't understand this - Don't take a sack!! That's how the winning programs do it. It always the refs, Hayden, the cheaters on the other teams, our standards are so high, etc, etc, etc. I'm sure Montana would have wanted that extra timeout rather than another play and 17 seconds?

Kind of on-topic... I've seen a couple of "analysts" question the extra second that was put on the clock after the 2nd to last incompletion.

Mark May saying, "Hey, how did a one show up on that clock all of a sudden? Home field clock, huh coach?"

Some douche on ESPN2 saying, "All I'll say is Coach Weis got a few breaks from the officiating and still lost."

What?? Seriously? I thought the last second being added was pretty cut and dry. The ball clearly hit the ground with time left on the clock. Should they have let the game end instead of getting it right?
