Take a good look at this year's USC team...

I think that this year's USC team is very similar to what the Irish will look like for the next 2 years. Youth at nearly every position...but with excellent team speed and unbelievable talent. I think the immediate future Irish teams will be able to beat anybody on a given day (like USC did against us, Arkansas, Cal and Oregon), but will be prone to have bad games and lose to inferior teams (like USC did against Oregon State and UCLA). With some luck, we could be playing for a championship in 2 years, but it will probably be 3 years before this team is mature enough to run the table and win it all. Go Irish!!!

For next year, ND still does not have the talent as USC does. Plus, this year, USC actually had more veterans than ND will have next year, like on the o-line. At least USC had some significant junior and senior contribution.

Fortunately, Weis said one of the things that is most encouraging in this weeks practice is the developing play of our young O-Line. While he didn't point out individuals, we've got some beef in there, and it's good to hear that Chuck thinks things are looking good.
