I havn't posted in awhile, but I feel that some excuses need to be addressed. I love the Irish, as a kid we were feared and admired. Any more? not so fast my friend. I compared the last few years (starting in 2002) with Ala(ugh)bama, currently as you know, #1. Interesting to say the least.

1) Willingham left us with bad recruiting-
Yes, in that span, we did have a couple of real clunkers, (by ND standards), 32 rivals ranking in 2004 and 40th in 05. Alabama had bad classes in 02 (30), and 03 (49th). The average rank over those years is 18th for ND, 19th for Alabama.
2) We played a tougher schedule-
Records over that span- ND 49-36, Bama 53-33. While I do not have the opponents winning percentage, I feel that it is very close, with ND playing some quality foes, while Bama is in the SEC.
3) As soon as Charlie has his own players...-
Saban has turned Bama around in 23 games, not three and a half YEARS.
4) O'Leary- Bama had Price. One was a Liar, the other a pervert TIE!!!

So I feel the we have a coach who is a great recruiter, and a mediocre coach and we are looking to another round of wait until next year. Alabama? They have a great recruiter and a great coach. Saban to ND! We Need to quit making excuses and demand excellence. Why are we celebrating a win over NAVY as if it a BCS bowl victory?

No Saban please. I'm not sure what the answer is and if we can even get anyone here. That monster extension that ND gave Charlie was a monster mistake.

geore,
Here is one big reason Saban has been able to get better faster. JC transfers. He filled a couple key holes on both O and D with those players. His monster starting NG who weighs 365#'s is a JC transfer. Imagine how good we could be with a HUGE DL or two and how bout a stud LB.

I know that he has some jucos, but how good would julio jones have looked in blue and gold? He still had some excellent freshmen and he has played 16 this year, third most in 1A
