No matter what coach comes in, I hope Ron Powlus gets to stay on as QB coach. He handles the stable really well and I think he has been key in Jimmy's development.

Anything he has learned from Weis about developing and coaching QBs is a huge plus, so he should stay.

I'm not saying he has been that impressive either way, because Weis basically coaches the QBs so its hard to say that Powlus has done well or poorly. But again, Weis' specialty is developing QBs so if you have someone who has learned under him for a couple years, why not keep him?

Beano Cook says he will win 4 Heismans before he leaves Notre Dame - so he should stay.

How can we judge Powlus' performance? Clausen is much improved over last year, how much of that is due to Powlus is anyone's guess.

More of a Polian/ Ianello guy meyself. Polian leaves alot to be desired as a coach but thats not why he is on the staff.

I think (and I know just about all of you can correct me) that Powlus had the second most passing yardage in ND history until Jimmy passed him (no pun or double entendre intended).

Powlus did it under two different systems, and he showed class throughout his career. I really like the guy. I wish the best for him. I hope he becomes HC at ND one day.

I'm down for that too. The guy knows his stuff and it has shown with JC. I can see the head coach thing one day.

I also hope Powlus finds a place on the next staff, whoever's it may be. Anyone know if Bryant Young is still around as a grad assistant? Hopefully he can stick around as well.

Yeah, Jimmy has only regressed every year.

WTF are you talking about? What has not impressed you?

True, Clausen has regressed every year, but Clausen came to play for Weis, and I think Weis deserves some credit here w/ the development of Clausen. Clausen and Crist deserve a better QB coach, I'd make a bet he got the job because he played for ND. Sorry, but I think Powlus needs to go.

Care to give one reason where Powlus has not done all the right things?

Jimmy's playing as one of the 3 best QBs in all of college football...and Powlus is his QB coach.
