I can't watch this game anymore. Defense stinks and ND cannot make a free throw. Awful.
I can't continue to support our good-guy coach in Brey any longer. His recruiting is awful and his excuses are even worse. He looks for a certain type of player because he assumes that's all ND can get, which is complete BS IMO. Kind of like conceding from the get-go, which is telling when you're a coach, especially in the Big East where confidence is a must.
We have one true penetrator which is pathetic when you're playing D1 basketball. It starts and ends with Brey, plain and simple. We can point to missed free-throws and we can point to bad performances game after game by key contributors; and we can also point to bad defense and poor rebounding. But the all-encompassing view paints a much broader picture. One that has a poor artist. If all of these elements are bad it's time to put the blame where it's due.
I hope Jack can (if he has the kahunas) find a coach who shows passion and who places an emphasis on the fundamentals. I'm to the point where I wouldn't mind just seeing TJ and LFH start with all the other young bloods. Why not? Brey's done in my book.

ND needs to look at the Duke model. They are consistent winners and have similiar acedemic standings. I think they are underachieving just as the football team was last year. I don't know if Brey is the answer, but they need more size especially at the center spot.

A 7-Foot Center would help.
Brey lack of a rotation of players and refusal to teach defense is a killer. After 10 years he still does not realize this is the Big Eat and not ACC. More banging going on here, the need to play 8 guys is a must. Nova had rotated in 9 guys by the 5 minute mark of the game last week. Hell Rutgers used their whole damn team tonight. We fad in the second half because 5 or 6 guys can't keep logging these minutes and be effective against Big Eat teams. Maybe those scraps we play in Nov. and Dec, but not now.

How about getting Joey Brooks on the floor. He would bring some much needed energy and athleticism. Irish cannot continue to be content shooting jumpers.
