Planning ND trip... need advice!

My two best friends and myself are planning our annual football trip we call The Fall Cathedral Tour. We make an annual pilgrimage to a different college football stadiums every year. We hail from Oregon and pick a different stadium every year with great fans and tradition. Last year we watched Penn State play Michigan State, and this year we are traveling to watch ND play Navy.

As part of our trip we are flying into Chicago... driving to South Bend to watch ND whoop up on Navy... then driving down to Indianapolis to watch the Colts play the Patriots. (Did I mention we love football??)

We are HUGE college football fans and always try and do the traditional activities that any loyal fan would do if they were visiting their alma mater after a long hiatus. We sport the team colors and try and tailgate with the locals!

Any input would be greatly appreciated on the following topics.

1. Where should we stay? I realize that the real answer is that we should have booked our hotel this time last year... but it is what it is... any suggestions for a later booker?

2.We need 3 tickets (and a parking pass if available)... any recommendations on where to acquire such tickets without paying through the nose to a scalper? Maybe you have some extra in your group and would like to sell them to some great college FB fans from Oregon???

3. What are the traditiional things we should see? Statues? Pep rally? Team walk to the stadium??? What does a true blue ND fan do?

4. Is there a particular area near the stadium that has the best tailgating?

Any other advice would be GREAT!!

Thanks in advance,

Dave

I would suggest pep rally Friday and college football Hall of Fame. Check out the bookstore Friday too, it's to crowed on Saturday. Tailgate at White Field. you are going to get ripped off at a hotel, flat out, sorry!

I suggest that you attend the Notre Dame Band Practice on the steps of Bond Hall prior to the walk to the stadium. After this don't leave as many people do, stay behind and witness the ND Drummer Circle. I have videos of paste events on you tube. If you want me to send you the link to them I can. Have fun and GO IRISH!!!
