Can't be Samardzija because the award is based on incoming freshman for 2001-2002. Jeff is 2003-2004. Also, this is all based on the infamous GSR so it has to be someone from the 2001-02 class who did not graduate who had exhausted their football eligibility, or someone who could not play and never graduated because they were academically ineligible. I am not sure if Jeff graduated, but if he had not exhausted his athletic eligibility, which I am also not sure of, then he would not count against the award criteria anyway. For example Darius Walker will not count against this number because he still had athletic eligibilty and was still academically qualified when he decided to try for the NFL. That is why Florida is listed as one of the schools over 70% even though they actually graduate less than 50%.
I'll have to check my commencement book to see if Jeff is listed, but it's a moot point for this year's award anyway.
