Nervous!

Hey all my fellow domers,
I am extremely nervous about this upcoming season for a few reasons: 1) All this preseason hype is really starting to get to me. At first it was ok, but now its just old. I dont like it one bit anymore because if Notre Dame doesnt live up to the hype; everyone is just going to be bashing us like they normally do but 10 times worse. 2) I'm extremely nervous about the defense. I dont think many teams will be able to stop the offense but I still think our defense is susceptable to the long plays they tend to give up on numerous occasions. Although I think they will be a bit tougher, I can still see mediocrity on the defensive side of the ball. 3) and if (and thats a BIG if) Notre Dame loses more than they should this year (and we all know how 2nd year coaches do) It will GREATLY affect the way recruiting is going so far. Those are my 3 main concerns and if anyone wants to give me their input feel free to do so. I am a die hard ND fan and i would still be a fan even if they lost all the games but i'm just really nervous about this year for the reasons I stated above. Go Irish!

Personally, I can't get enough of our preseason hype. It's nice to be #1 for a change. Our defense is definitely a concern. I'm really worried that we may have problems with the pass defense once again. And mobile quarterbacks kill us too! I think we'll all know where we stand after September. If ND wins those games, we should coast until we play SC.

i dont like the fact that alot of our fans are saying " Well after this game we are gonna coast to the USC game" i agree with ND our mother, ive watched the vast improvement that CW has done to our fans are saying team, but now we have a bullseye on our back. remember how hard our team played against USC, everyteam we play this year will play that hard against us. i doubt CW will have the soph slump weve been used to.

One way too beat ND...........hammer Quinn........every team will be trying to make contact with him/knock him out of the game. That would about do it as far as NC asperations go. GT is gonna blitz like crazy.

Easy there, fella. Everything's gonna be o.k. Your worries are understood and certainly valid. (Deep Breath...AAAAAAhhhhhhhhhh... ) With that being said, all this preseason hype don't mean a damn thing until we strap em' up, line up against our opponent and punch em' in the mouth a few times. Nothing. This team is gonna be smart. They're gonna be fast. Most of all, they're gonna be nasty. We've finally got the right man at the helm and I think that we can all rely on the fact that he leaves no stone unturned. My suggestion...stop reading these pre-season prognostications because your gonna flip your lid before this "special season" gets under way.

I think we are all nervous because we are actually expected to be good finally. I like that feeling better then the feeling I had say.... from '97-'04. Relax and enjoy your summer, none of us will be calling the plays. Just be confident, they way CW changed the attitude of our players through confidence.

I'm not saying that couldn't happen,but quinn is one player I wouldn't be too worried about getting knocked out of a game

but let me take it juuuuuust a little further.
I gave my two cents worth on another post today here about my concerns on defense. But let me say without hesitation. We will absolutely be better on defense. We will be bigger, meaner, nastier,..........get it! I watched CW for that first week last year when the team was allowing us to watch and from the first second I was there you could feel the difference in the air. We will be good this year everyone, I can feel it. I think we will go undeafeted. I feel as strongly about it as I did in 87 when I told TB at the BG game the heisman was his. He said you think I said without a doubt-now sign my football and by the way you look taller on tv...hahaha

I hope they do blitz. GT is not tOSU's defense of last year. They are weak on the DB's and I could see some quick screens and slants. I hope they bring 7-8 every time. Remember when BYU tried that?

There is one thing that I am sure of and that is the ability of coach Weiss, he is the best thing to happen to Notre Dame since Lou. If his continues to due the things that he is doing with recruiting and play calling I think we will be just fine this season. Sure we have a few tough games at the being of the season; the only one I am really concerned with is Michigan (well maybe G-tech, just because it is the first game), I do think that Penn State has the personal to stop us on D. If we can gat passed Michigan & Michigan St. we should do just fine. I am really not concerned with USC, I think the motivation with the there and Reggie won’t be. As to our recruiting, I think we have some high profile silent verbals, at least on offense; my major concern is building that defensive line and getting another speedy LB, continuing to build our offensive line and maybe a RB.
