i don't know how much this relates to ND football, but what the hell. this weekend, i went down to NYC/NJ to see the redskins play the jets. saturday night, we went into the city to do some shopping and stuff. well, i bought a green #7 jersey and the stupid idiot cashier lady didn't take the security tag off. i found this out when i got back to the hotel room so going back to the store was out of the question. it's one of those security tags that spews ink if you try to break it open. i was wondering if any of you guys knew how to get them off without the ink getting all over the place. my dad suggested just ripping the tag off underwater which sounds like it might work but i'm not sure.

That's a tough one. I take it you live pretty far from the place where you bought it? Maybe you should call them and see if you could mail it to them - then they could remove the tag and send it back to you.

Those tags should be pretty standard. I'd bet that, if you have the receipt, someone locally has the tool for removing it and would be willing to do so.

I totally wouldn't mess around with that. MAYBE kmoose is right that a local merchant would help you out, but I'm not sure ... it's worth a try, I guess.

i tried what this guy did and got the tag to slide right off. my tag was a little different from his. he had the two metal plates holding the pin in place and mine had like a round metal thing with two tiny ball berings holding it in place. so i took a lighter and melted the plastic down and once i got the plastic low enough, the ball berings just felt out and backside of the tag slid right off with no ink. it's cool bc you can see the two tubes of ink in the front of the tag!
