USC's White to declare for NFL DraftESPN.com news services

Southern Cal might be losing both its Thunder and its Lightning.

Running back LenDale White will declare for the NFL Draft on Wednesday, a person close to White told ESPN's Joe Schad on Tuesday night. White was expected to make the announcement during an interview on ESPNEWS.

White, a 6-foot-2, 235-pound junior, could be the third major offensive weapon to leave USC for the NFL this year, following the departure of quarterback Matt Leinart. Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush has not officially declared his intention to enter the NFL Draft, but met with a prospective agent Monday.

White finished the 2005 season with 1,302 yards on 197 carries, including 124 yards on 20 carries in the Trojans' 41-38 Rose Bowl loss to Texas. In his three-year career, White had 541 carries for 3,159 yards.

I think he'd be a great fit with the Steelers or Ravens.

The entire backfield is gone. Steve Smith looks to be staying, along with Jarrett. That will help their new QB get settled in, having both receivers back. But losing the running game will hurt the most.

SC will be pretty good, but I don't think they'll be anywhere close to what they've been.

What scares me is that ND plays them on the road, late in November. They'll be much better by then.

I hope he falls to the Steelers but I doubt it espcially with Green Bay talking him up so much. Yeah it would be much better if we could face USC earlier in the season, they could get their stuff together by the time we come to town but I still think ND wins it. Brady wants to beat the Trojans so bad.

So who is left that are legit Heisman contenders for 2006? Leak, Smith (OSU) or Ginn, Peterson, Quinn?

Green Bay would take him that high?

I've got to think that GB will take that DE Williams from NC State. Their defense is really hurting.

jiggs, if I am not mistaken SC has 4 of it's 5 interior OL back and they will all be seniors. ( unless any have opted for early). That is going to be tough for any SC opponents. Again this is from memory and may be corrected.

Lutui was a JUCO guy and finished his second year. Matua is probably back but might declare. Winston Justice will declare.

That's two gone, maybe a third.

They better take Williams before White or I will personally go down and kick Ted Thompson's ass. He is already trying to drive Favre out of town.

Should they keep him there until he's 45? Coming from a Bears fan, it's time to move on. I'd like to see Favre stick around a few more years just so Urlacher and Co. can give him a few more beatings.

The guy isn't the same. He can still play, but he's older and can't make the throws he could 3 years ago.

Mario Williams would be the wise pick.

I'd knock Ginn out of there and go with the other four.

I'm glad he's gone. They're losing all their weapons. We gotta beat them next year, even if it's at their place and late in the year. We have to beat them this year.

Please tell Favre to hang it up. It's painful to watch a legend throw 3 INT's a game.

The Raiders need to trade down from #6 and get some extra picks an snatch White up later in the 1st round.
