Nation (Virginia): Does Young follow Wenger and commit to Notre Dame? Could Young start as a true freshman?
Tom Lemming: Young is making his first visit Friday. He will be going to USC. Any speculation on where he is going is premature. He won't visit Notre Dame until mid-January.
Tom Lemming: Yes, he can start at as a freshman if the opportunity arises.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AJ (New York): Tom, Now that ND has nearly wrapped up the 2006 class, how is junior recruiting shaping up? Are guys like Jimmy Clausen and John Clay possibilities?
Tom Lemming: Again, it is very early. My belief is if Notre Dame has a good game in the Fiesta Bowl its 2007 class a great shot at being better than the 2006 class. They have a very good shot at Clausen and Clay, the nation's No. 1 running back next year. If he has grades, ND will certainly be on his list.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

John Hansen (Omaha): Tom, what schools will end up finishing in your top three or five?
Tom Lemming: The schools with the best shot at the top three are Texas, Notre Dame, Florida and USC. Those four have the best shot at the top three.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Holly, MI: Tom How would you rate Charlie Weis's recruiting so far?
Tom Lemming: A plus. If ND gets Reuland, tomorrow on Generation Next at 7:30 Eastern time on CSTV, then the Irish will have pulled dead-even with Texas.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MATT L: Tom - Do you think ND would go after Mustain? Also, what are the odds of them landing Reuland and Sam Young?
Tom Lemming: I think the odds are good they can land both Reuland and Young, but it is a guess. I dont think ND will go after Mustain since ND is already going after Clausen next year.

Matt (Bronx): Where do you think Gerald McCoy ends up?? Notre Dame could really use the D-Line help.
Tom Lemming: They certainly could. Gerald is tough to read. USC believes it has a great shot, Notre Dame does, too. He is going to Miami Friday and don't rule out the Sooners, yet.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kelly, Tulsa: Tom, what are your Feelings about where Reuland & where he is headed??
Tom Lemming: Watch CSTV tomorrow night to find out where he is headed.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dave (lexington)?: What's the story with Butch Lewis?
Tom Lemming: Georgia, USC and Notre Dame, possibly in that order.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ryan (NYC): When it all said and done, who do you think ends up with the #1 class? Alos, do you think Clausen commits early?
Tom Lemming: When it is all said and done Notre Dame has more room to move with possibly 28 scholarships. If the Irish close with Reuland, Young, McCoy and Carufel, they will most certainly finish No. 1.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

tommy, murfreesboro tn: What do you think of Jr Ben Martin?
Tom Lemming: He is the top defensive end prospect in the Midwest. It may come down to a battle between Fiesta Bowl opponents Notre Dame and Ohio State for him next season.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mike - Phoenix: Which school's consistent monster recruiting classes could establish dynasties for the years to come?
Tom Lemming: Of course, USC and Texas, but the two new kids on the block will be Florida and Notre Dame.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ron(Miami): Will Walls and Mcneil make a big impact early on at Notre Dame and will Prince or West play cornerback?
Tom Lemming: I believe both will be in the two-deep at cornerback and be starters by their sophomore year. Prince is a slashing tailback and West could start as a kickoff returner.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kelly, Tulsa: What do you think of huge 2007 talent, Josh Oglesby?
Tom Lemming: He will be one of the most recruited offensive linemen in the nation. At 6-7, 325 he is a man-mountain with great athletic ability.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Russel (Lincoln, NE): Tom, which current Notre Dame commit do you feel is the most underrated?
Tom Lemming: Wide receiver Barry Gallup is a talent with great hands, speed and production.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tom S. (NY,NY): How much did Darrin Walls' shoulder injury affect his ability on the field his senior year? Alot of services seem to be penalizing him for playing through it.
Tom Lemming: He did play through it. Darrin Walls never missed a full game. I believe some services penalized him for choosing Notre Dame, not because he had a bad year. I watched Darrin on film. His second half of the season was fantastic and most quarterbacks stayed away from his part of the field.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ron(Miami): I read that Carufel said he has no leaders now. Is he a silent verbal to ND though?
Tom Lemming: No silent verbal. Notre Dame, Iowa, Minnesota are his final three. He will announce at the U.S. Army All-American Game on Jan. 7.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

David (Lexington): Tom, have ND's new assistant coaches contributed to their recruiting success, or is it all Charlie Weis?
Tom Lemming: It''s never all one person at any school. Weis has proven to be dynamic beyond Notre Dame fans' wildest imagination. They have a solid staff led by Rob Ianello, Mike Haywood and John Latina.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

rob (santa ana): tom is konrad reuland rethinking going to notre dame after all?maybe he wants to be a trojan!
Tom Lemming: Yes, he is thinking about being a Trojan. USC has made a great late push on the nation's No. 1 tight end. You will only have to wait one more day for his decision as he will announce tomorrow on Generation Next at 7:30 Eastern on CSTV. Along with Reuland will be Greg Banks, DE from Denver, who will choose between Michigan, Cal and Oklahoma. Thanks for the questions and look forward to more next Wednesday at 3 p.m. Thanks, again.

I agree with this answer, Rivals always rates the South and West coast players and teams better.

Last year when Wilson was an ND commit he had three stars, decommits and goes to Ohio State and becomes a 4 star player. Same with Nelson rivals had him as a 3 star when he was with ND, and a 4 star when he went to Florida. AJ Trump who looked like a lock for ND last year was listed as a 3 star player, until he showed interest and committed to Miami then he became a 4 star. The list goes on and on.

Florida got a committment from a DB recently, believe his name is Derrick Robinson, he had NO other offers whatsoever and was listed as a two star player, once he committed to Florida, he was given 3 stars. The kid had no other division 1 offers, Barry Gallup on the other hand had numberous offers from schools like BC, ND, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Syracuse etc yet is only listed as a 2 star player on scout.

Reuland announces he is giving his verbal, and the same day he drops to the #2 TE.

Everyone knows he's a strong ND lean. Kind of makes you wonder.
