Ok, obviously the d-line is going to be very thin again this year. Ian Williams should be good at nose, Kuntz hopefully will be back and ready to go in August and may move over to one of the tackle spots. Brown has some experience and can fill a spot but I dont think he'll do too much. Cwynar is enrolled early, we'll have to see if he can make some noise on the depth chart. But what about Kallen Wade? Weis was high on him when they signed him and I know to this point the issue has been his weight but I think if he could step up and be productive that would be an extremely pleasant surprise. He's still listed at 6-5 257. What do you guys think?

Obviously Mullen, Nwankwo, Johnson, H. Williams and Newman are in the mix too. I guess I'm just curious as to when and if Wade will emerge

You gotta let him go. And you should probably stay away from sharp objects for a while as well.

It takes time for guys to step up and become acclimated to the college game, especially on the line. Ian Williams is the exception and we can't expect true freshman to come in and absolutely destroy the opponents like Ian did last year. As a matter of fact, Ian did such a great job, there were many people on this site starting his Heisman campaign.

Wade's not 257, nor has he ever been that weight. Typical exaggeration of weight for the official listing... He's lighter than that, but I think he still has a chance to contribute. He's got a lot of speed and is just plain athletic. There's a possibility he might see some time at OLB as well.

We need ALL of our D-Linemen to make contributions this year. I can't take another year of opposing offenses running wild on our D.

it may very well be by committee until at least 4 guys solidify themselves as every down lineman (i say four because the NT position usually needs a rest whereas the DEs can be in every down)

I think we should be fine as long as Kuntz returns, If Kuntz returns we'll have 2 of the 3 D-linemen starting positions locked down. Ian Williams starting at nose and Kuntz at strong side DE. At the other DE position I think Ehan Johnson will be able to earn a starting spot, hes already has the size for the position and hes extremely explosive and athletic. Brown is coming back which will add depth, Wade and Mullen will be juniors and add more depth, and there has been talk of moving Ryan to DE as well. Add that to Cwynar who has enrolled early, and Moore, Hafis Williams. an Brandon Newman we should be fine.
