...Or the Navy game, Notre Dame will win out FO SHO, at least during the regular season.
Why?
With Floyd out, Golden Tate has really come into his own (I want so badly to say "commercially and artistically" here, a la Christian Bale in American Psycho) and is blossoming into a great wide receiver. Even without Floyd, Tate is getting open and having solid performances with the added difficulty of double coverage and being the focus of the opposing defense.
With Floyd back, the Notre Dame passing attack will be absolutely unstoppable. Now that Tate has become a great all-around receiver, it will be extremely difficult for defenses to key in on either Golden or Michael. It's pick your poison. You cannot focus on one guy without leaving the other open. Clausen is going to be able to launch that beautiful deep ball all day long against Navy (with Floyd) and UConn, and possibly Stanford, as well.
Although our defense is still morbidly bad (at least that horrific secondary) and will give up a lot of points, I have the feeling our offense will be able to outscore those teams.
It may be a major homer statement, but if Golden Tate remains for his senior season, as well as Jimmy Clausen, Golden Tate and Michael Floyd could go down as the greatest receiving duo in college football history.
