I am new to the board here and just want to introduce myself..... I am a life long Irish fan..... been to several home games and a few away games...... really just wondering how long ND is willing to put up with Charlie..... is it me or did he once mutter to someone that he would never lose to Sparty as long as he is coach @ ND?????

Then he talks smack about the boys from Kalamazoo...... can we just play ball and improve.... why all the smack from Charlie..... Jimmy is getting better.... more confident.....but when will we go on the road and win against a top ten team???? Gerry Faust doesn't look so bad anymore, neither does Davey or Willingham!!!!

We get irritated when we lose but this year we understand that this team will have ups and downs. Much to most ND fans pleasure there's been more ups than downs. Most ND fans that don't have their heads in the clouds understand that this team is growing leaps and bounds.

Are you one of those fans who expected the team to win 12 games this season and then win the NC? If so, I can see why you're pining for the days of Faust, Davey, or Ty.

In all seriousness though, Weis is the right man for this job. Take a look at his recruiting classes. The players we're getting are extraordinary and will prove to be the best ND has ever seen.

All it takes is patience. Look at the monumental strides this team has taken from last season. Going from 3 - 9 to a national championship team takes time. Yeah, there are times I get thoroughly disgusted and yell at my TV. But that doesn't mean I've given up.

Just give it some time and this team will take you on the wildest ride of your life.

Best advice I can give you, leahy? Calm down. We just lost to a bottom five of the Top 25 team, and you want to know when we are going to beat a Top Ten team?

Be realistic. This is not yet a good team. What it is, is a talented young team that is on the very cusp of being good, and shows the potential to be great. They are moving forward, but they are not there yet. All of the doom and gloomers can kiss our asses, when the boys finally get back to shaking down the thunder.

Charlie: Absolutely. We have some areas of concern but these guys are working hard and I think we are going in the right direction.

Charlie: Yes. These guys are getting better with every game, believing in themselves and coming together.

So, my friend, we can look at this as a progression. Bob wanted no responsibility, he blamed everyone but Jesus for his failures. He was a terrible coach and the team looked listless and sloppy under his direction. Ty took some responsibility. He had a few good smoke and mirrors years but the reality was that the program was stalled out and just not going forward. He had BQ as a sophomore and didn't do anything of substance with him while Charlie has Clausen doing amazing things. Which brings us to Charlie, he stands up and shoulders the losses, he's hauling in top five recruiting classes and the team has direction.

No university has more of a fan base that we do...... that is a fair bit of respect..... I am tired of the media asking why we can't get it done with all the big names on the field and the coaching staff...

yea anyone who watched the msu game knows that game was much closer than the final score indicated. and we outplayed unc on saturday. we are very young and we are going to make mistakes. we shouldnt let that cloud our view of the big picture. we are so close, just hang on a little while longer. if we were showing no progress i would be right there with you, but clearly progress is being made, and its being made on a game by game basis

We were great in 88..... we put teams away..... we beat number 1 2 and 3 in the country that year and then won the national championship...... NC was a good team with quarterback issues....... i think they were on their 2 or 3rd string qb...... we need to win those games.....
