1) It's Bill Lewis, not Bill Smith
2) Lewis was not demoted. He had DOUBLE HIP REPLACEMENT SURGERY and he tried to resign.
3) Lewis was given a sweet deal on the administrative staff so he could keep his health benefits through the surgeries AND remain with ND.

4) Gary Gray redshirted, he did not see time on special teams.

If you go to the comments section, the author is getting a new butt ripped for himself.

5. Clausen missed those 3 games because of this hip injury he sustained in the Purdue game not cause of his shoulder.
and
6. He didn't spray the ball all over the field in the Blue-Gold Game. He must have had somewhere in the ballpark of 8 easily catchable passes that were dropped and a few more that were pretty darn close to being caught.

ESPN needs to really get their act together here, I bet you Mark May had final approval over this article

I'm pretty sure I read down toward the bottom that he said 8 defensive starters returning.

It thought it was extremely poorly written. I don't like how the author started off sounding like Charlie kicked Bill Lewis off for Jon Tenuta. True fans know how that played out. I also disagree with his statement that ND has "two impossible to win" games in Michigan and USC. I think we can and will beat Michigan! His analysis on the running backs was absolutely atrocious. While all three backs should see time, Hughes is the man who should get the majority of the carries. I really wonder if author keeps up with Notre Dame football or just wrote his "analysis" on what he heard.
