This is a re-post of one of the victims of the slash and burn. I thought it was worth putting back up.

QB JIMMY CLAUSEN, RB ARMANDO ALLEN, RB ROBERT HUGHES, WR DUVAL KAMARA, WR GREG LITTLE, WR GOLDEN TATE, TE MIKE RAGONE

Notre Dame’s 2007 Recruiting Class will not end up as the #1 ranked class in the nation, and everyone is concerned about the Defense, but let’s stop for a minute and be thankful for the truly amazing accomplishments of CW and his staff on the recruiting trail in the last 2 years. I for one am especially in awe of the seven 2007 Offensive recruits listed above (although Tate may end up as a DB). This collection of Offensive Skill Position recruits is unmatched in the nation, not by Florida, and not by USC, even if they do get McKnight. Combine these seven with Aldridge, Prince, and the best O Line recruiting in the country in the last 2 years, and you have IMO the best collection of raw, and yes athletic, Offensive talent that this University has ever seen. If this raw talent can translate into on field success, the Irish have a potential offensive juggernaut in the years to come.

In many ways the recruiting success of Charlie Weis is astonishing, especially in light of the recruiting legacy left by TW. Now I may be basking a bit too much in the afterglow of the Hughes commitment and I know the Defense needs to be fixed, but I truly believe that there should be genuine optimism that the Notre Dame Football program will have continued enormous success in the years to come under the tutelage of CW. In turn, this success will ever increase the band of Irish enviers/haters who will be calling CW arrogant, obnoxious, and overrated. All I can say is ignore them, except to occasionally have fun mocking them, and just thank Notre Dame, Our Mother, for delivering Charlie Weis to us.
