Have any of you been following this whole thing? For those of you who haven't, it's an attempt to revitalize (or maybe just 'vitalize', since I'm not sure if there was EVER any life there) the area just south of campus, along Edison/Angela (the street that borders campus from the south, which is where the stadium and arena are) and Eddy (the street that used to bisect the center of campus, but is now closed at the entrance to campus but still runs toward downtown). Anyway, since I've been away from campus I haven't been keeping much of an eye on any of this, but BGS just put up a couple of really nice posts on it: see here and here.
From what I can tell, it seems really exciting, though I hope the developer goes for the new urbanism look rather than 'sprawl chic'. Do any of you who are closer to the situation have any thoughts or insights on it? Is my optimism misplaced? Or am I right to be excited?
