I just heard a little something from Charlie Weis that I thought was huge in terms of Jimmy Clausen.
He said his biggest improvement this year was that, "naturally when a QB is pressured they flush out of the pocket and scramble to their throwing side. "
So many times in the past two years when there was just a little bit of pressure, Jimmy would always run out of the pocket, and that gives you tunnel vision as a QB.as
Weis said ,"he has really really picked up on seeing a little window in the pocket and shuffling his feet and stepping up in the pocket when there is pressure."
This give you more time for the receivers to get open and you see the whole field, ala Brady quinn so many times keeping a play alive by steppin up in the pocket avoiding defenders. I always thought Jimmy scrambled too early when he felt pressure. If he truly made big improvements on this, I think this could be great news for the Irish offense and Clausen.
Let's wait and see.
