This is why I don't believe in direct commissions. Every wannabe officer should have to earn chevrons before commissioning. Wouldn't solve all of this, but it couldn't hurt to force kids to spend a little time with a diverse group of their countrymen before we put em in charge of anything.

I went to two different military schools and in my experience racism and rape were no more prevalent than any other school.
Sorry you had such a different experience.

I can tell you didn't go to school in Howe, Indiana during the late 80's.


Admittedly it's my only point of reference but... I saw some things.

Ok, ok... lets move on from the rapy 1980s military schools and get back to this. As a non-cadet alum, this sucks... Most of professional local network is Citadel cadets. The schools history alone overshadows this incident so I am trying to wait until (hopefully) more comes out but I think it was more hazing the knobs though this is as bad as I have heard of before. Also the girl's statements about the scenario under which she received the photo is up for question as well.

Haha. Yeah I did. But since no one was raped (though posted on the rapiest of social media sites), it seems more like a hazing event gone wrong so far though or that an upperclassmen took a questionable video fo hazing events and posted it to a knobs snapchat account. IT would not strike me as out of the realm of possibilities that one of the upperclassmen posted this to a knobs snapchat account as a joke.

I'm a twelve week wonder myself, but playing devil's advocate, aren't the academies and military schools sort of designed to have you "rise up the ranks" to learn what its like to earn them some chevrons?
