I got to disagree w you marine. The ting that changed was the guys commitment to the US Army. When he agreed to accept an appointment to the USMA as a cadet at West Point, he agreed to a 4 year college degree paid completely by Uncle Sam in return for serving as an appointed US Army Officer for a set period of time- usually 5-6 yr active duty initial tour. His dream of playing pro football definately did not factor into the US Army and his contract. If he ever thought he had a chance to play Pro football, then USMA should never have been his choice of schools to matriculate at. He was trying to take advantage of a policy they had from 2005 that would have allowed him to be a recruiter during his other job, but like all policies the Army comes up with, it has subsequently changed.
The reason I have no sympathy is because there are 1,000,000's of people that apply for an appointment to the Academy every year, yet only 1,000 are accepted. Each know what is expected of them if they accept the appointment- they will become officers on active duty.
