Since I'm in the football forum, I'll keep my comments here football related. See other post in Leppes lounge for other comments.
We had three dinners in the south dining hall, a breakfast, lunch and a dinner, all on different days. First observation, ND students don't eat breakfast!
It was only the high school campers and tourists like us.
But I had the fortune of sitting at the table next to a group of incoming frosh players, and it was no coincidence, since I sat there on purpose! I tried to listen in, but they never talked about football. I was hoping for some scoop! On the bright side though, they seem like a very tight group of guys. I confirm I saw Flemming, Ethan, Filer, Brandon (my homeboy from the Ville), KLM, Fauria (my daughter thinks he's cute) and Poz. I saw a few more, but don't know their pics well enough to confirm, but I think it was Slaughter and Blanton. They were wearing ball caps too, so it was hard to figure them out.
Brandon was cracking up the whole time he was there. He obviously knows how to have a good time. Fauria appears taller than I thought, and more muscular. He has lost all the baby fat in his recruiting pic, and he looks cut. Poz never smiled - ever. The rest were having a good time.
More good news, I was in the library, checking it out. I saw Poz doing research, still not smiling, so that is a good sign. Guys hitting the books in the summer, can't beat that.
Thursday was the freaking day we chose to visit the Amish community, so we weren't there when the recruits came in. Not like we would have seen them anyway, or maybe just a golf cart wizzing by. Come to think of it, we were on campus Thursday night at 10 pm (to see ND at night) and did see a couple really long golf carts at the Gug.
Football wise, that's about it. One thing for sure, it's easier getting info at home about ND recruiting (WWW) than it is on campus!
