I think you’re right……some of them just won’t be able to transition to the new era. Saban being the most notable example.

There were pretty long gaps between Bryant then Stallings and then Saban. I honestly don’t expect AL to reach the levels near the Saban era anytime soon.

Some of the II podcasts have alluded to the idea that the university is loosening on this aspect but I guess we’ll see it when/if it happens.

This why I hope Price stays another year. He can continue to develop and showcase his talents without putting as much stress on his body, especially after suffering a serious injury. It benefits all the RBs wanting to stay fresh for a shot in the NFL.
