Says he is still visiting, and we’ll have to see what ND last play is. LSU has been surging in the spring according to Wiltfong

Way lower for a IOL, even a 5 star one.

Based on rumored prices, even a 5 star IOL like Simien would not cost more than someone like O’Neil, Alston or Hasan

Well how bad does ND want him? He's the best IOL in this class IMO (and probably in the last couple classes at least). I have a feeling that with A&M and LSU as the competition, the "going rate" for elite IOL won't be enough.

or ND was not that in it for Olu until we were

Don't disagree. Was just providing context for ISD's "this would be a surprise" comment; they have been pretty clear in saying that Simien would NOT end up at LSU.

Can't be surprised about a WR going to LSU in the last decade...they surged ahead of Ole Miss with that OV, heard they rolled out the "Red Carpet".

Man... It's called an internal budget. ND's football staff is working with finite resources that they have to deploy in order to win battles. They don't have a money printer contrary to popular belief. They're doing what they can with what they have. The fact that Texas A&M probably has $10+ million more NIL to spend than ND does is what you get in an uncapped system. ND's NIL is competitive with the majority of programs, but schools like Texas Tech and Texas A&M are simply not going to be outspent if it comes down to that. See the Dodgers in baseball as a comp.

That said, while Semien is an ND fit, he was never a lock to come to Notre Dame. The Irish don't land very many players from down in Louisiana. That's a long way from home and a huge cultural change. A&M is much closer culturally and is putting together a historically good class that would be a lot of fun to be a part of. They also have an excellent recruiting staff that is doing as good of a job as anyone.

If ND gets him, it's a huge win. But I'm betting on him staying south until I hear otherwise!

I wonder if 8-4 will cause any of their class to defect. Or does this day and age of contracts make flipping less likely?
