I'm really interested to see what happens to these lower level schools if/when a super conference happens. They'll get left behind because not even all of the current P4 will get selected - maybe a NFL number of 32ish out of the 60+ current teams. That means the leftover P4 scraps will scramble...

Two bye weeks only happen during certain calendar years. This upcoming 2026 season teams only have 1 bye and the season still starts on Labor Day and ends Thanksgiving weekend. The conference championship games delay the start of the playoffs in all of these instances
