I hear you but MF and Carr both said it was an RPO. I think, to your overarching point, Carr’s mistake was deciding to throw it before he snapped it. Essentially, he made up his mind pre-snap in what turned out to be the wrong choice.
Beck was at Georgia for 4-5 years with 2 years as a starter so it’s not surprising he was comfortable regardless the look. I don’t think Ash had a bad gameplan, to be honest. I would assume he wasn’t accounting for his guys to be on the field an extra 7 minutes and even then, held Miami to 5...
Yes, it was an RPO. Freeman and Carr both said as much post game. It’s less about the call and more about Carr needing to handoff in that situation. It was clear from the coverage pre snap he should’ve given it to Love.
Good write-up!
On Shuler - his mistake was going for the body catch INT and not ensuring a pass breakup but it took a helluva catch so I’m not bent out of shape about it.
Biggest gripe of the night was the OL. The broadcast mentioned Knapp was cramping. Reuben Bain Jr is one heck of a...
The only issue I have was giving Carr too many plays with an RPO. I don’t mind the RPO calls necessarily, it’s more about the inexperience that Carr had going into the game and having him make split second decisions all game against a good defense.
All in all, a learning experience for Carr...
Nights like last night are bound to happen with a new unit. Takes time for cohesion and for them to gel into one unit. Would’ve been nice to have had an easier opponent to start the season but a good lesson learned last night.
Lot of new faces and guys coming back from season ending injuries. A conservative gameplan made sense so I’m not entirely upset with last night. Biggest issue I had was Ash sticking with man when Miami kept running the in and out and run routes.
Other than that, they were on the field a ton and...
3 point loss on the road to a top 10 team with rookie QB, inexperienced OL, -2 turnover battle, and a fantastic one handed catch.
Lots to clean up but feeling good about the season.
Imagine notifying the NBA, you’re open to trading Luka. The packages you would receive would be astronomical. Plenty of desperate teams would empty the vault for him.
