Looks like Weis is our new coach. Hey we coulda done alot worse. I'm very happy with this hire. Clements has great potential, but he doesn't have the experience yet.

Weis was considered one of the top choices for the Browns and dolphins job. He brings alot of credibility to the school. Anyone that knows football knows who this guy is. He's done great things with the Patriots offense, even though they haven't had a RB until this year(Dillion). Brady was like a 5th round pick, now he's a pro bowl QB, David Givens was a 7th round WR now he looks like he's headed to the pro bowl this year.

Weis has coached with Parcells, and Bellicek (don't know how his name is spelled.)

Bottom line here is that the new president Jenkins has shown football is again important at Notre Dame. Malloy's on his way out, so long nice knowing ya!Weis is light years ahead of Ty when it comes to coaching.

I'm very happy and excited with the hire!

There wasn't much debate. If Weis is indeed confirmed there are only two or three choices that could have trumped him as a selection: Shannahan, Gruden, Stoops. We should be back for real this time. This was a huge hire. Couldn't be bigger. No pun intended.

Here's Sean Salisbury, who raved positively about Weis on ESPN radio just now

Though ND may have talked to others before getting to Weis that he takes a back seat to no one. Said right now he'd rather have Weis than Shanahan as a college HC. Said Weis is a very hot property right now, even hotter than Meyer in his opinion. Gave a call out to all top HS QBs and offensive players that if Weis comes to ND they ought to reconsider their college choice and go to ND. ND has never seen an offensive scheme like the one Weis will bring if ND is lucky enough to get him. New England's loss will be ND's game

Finally! :)

Although I preferred Clements over Weiss, I'm happy with the selection. Let's just hope that we can be patient with this coach and not throw him under the train in 3 years. Ty's left him with a solid foundation (let's not lose sight of that), and I think Charlie can take it to the next level.

Great to have Weis! He was my choice from the get go. I think those Super Bowl rings will do wonders for recruiting. Good hire! And now we can start talking about football!

Thank goodness we hired someone who can actually improve the program, rather than firing Ty just to fire Ty.

Bro, the Mangino rumor's were very false. He was in a press conference and one of the reporters asked him if he was interested in the ND job and he said no. But trust me he wasn't in the running, he wasn't even a 500% percent coach, no way they would of hired him, or even offered him. ESPN went over board their.

AWESOME. Ditto on "let's get recruiting." That will be key. Wait til he sits in the living room and the blue chips and their parents see a Super Bowl ring on each hand. Rock and roll.
The word is that Clements gave the interviewing committee an 80- page outline from everything down to the dress code of players on game days. Rumor has it that took him out of the picture.

September 24, 2005 in Seattle Washington: Charlie Weis and Notre Dame versus Tyrone Willingham and the Washington Huskies. What a game that will be for TV. Willingham will be named coach tomorrow, according to ESPN.

One name that has surfaced as a potential assistant coaching candidate is Virginia defensive coordinator Al Golden, 35, who is known as one of the nation’s top recruiters. Weis’ staff is expected to have a strong Notre Dame flavor to it.

I didn't like the Mangino rumors either! What has he acomplished other than shutting down a few all you can eat buffetts? I thought his name being mentioned was an insult.

Well, Washington was terrible this year. But that will be quite an interesting game.

I knew those ESPN bastards were running with nothing. I was horrified by Mangino's name being floated around. He isnt' ND material.
