The Media is Killing us.

Who cares. I knew they would...

Espn hates us!

This is the same media that has been bashing Bill Callahan in his first year.

I don't see it as bashing, they're asking a lot of good questions (especially Mike Wilbon & even Bob Davies himself). The only thing I don't like is that they're going to be hounding the players for interviews & comments.

It looks like ND trashed Ty to get Meyer (which is probably true...lol). But hopefully this will work out well on all sides. If meyer doesn't get it done, we will have a mess on our hands.

Hopefully we don't end up like Nebraska. ;)

Although I felt Ty should've had one more year to turn things around, the fact is that if Ty had won the games he was supposed to win this year, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. A coach who can't win games has to realize that his job is on the line. Even though I'm a fan of Ty, I can't say that I'm all that upset that he's gone.

Everyone on ESPN this morning is shouting "Bob Davie got 5 years! Shouldn't Ty have gotten 5 years too?!?" Well, I think it's just as legitimate to ask if Bob Davie should've gotten 5 years to begin with.

So, now we hire a new coach. Will this be Gerry Faust replaced by Lou Holtz? Or will this be Terry Brennan replaced by Joe Kuharich? Be careful what you wish for... ya might get it.

ESPN what kinda idiots r u. U r supposed to be neutral - just announcing the news and having people decide what to believe.

If the Firing of Willingham was unjust he would have done what he was hired for:

1. Turn the program around completly
2. Go to 1 probably 2 BCS bowls
3. Look like we are on the road to the Nationaly Championship not a 1-10 season

Well ESPN needs to learn to be neutral.

lol i guess firetywillingham.com is not paying attention to the news - they r still crying to fire ty - Come announce VICTORY

The Luck of the Irish will be back soon :cbanana:

The dismissal of Willingham was not unjust, but it wasn't exactly "above board". While the team had a frustrating season, even Ray Charles could see that the team was improving. He was let go for no other reason than for the opportunity to get Urban Meyer. If the university ends up losing Meyer to Florida (or not gettingt a big-name coach like Gruden) all the criticism will be justified, IMO. Also, ESPN has been nuetral in the reporting, but the commentators are doing just that, giving opinion and speculations.

Listening to WFAN radio (nyc) Mike and the Mad Dog, all they talked about was ND.
They had Davie on, he didn't say anything good about nd. He said he would warn Urban about ND and there brutal schedule. Urban and Davie are best friends I hear.
Davie seems kinda bitter about ND with alot of the things I've heard him say.

Also said he'd tell Urban to go to a place where he would have the best chance of winning, (florida). I think Urban can win here and I welcome him!

I think Davie might be bitter (any fired employee has some level of bitterness).

But I think he's also thinking about Meyer's situation. Meyer at ND would be good...but right now I think Florida is mopre equipped to run his offense (and in turn give him quicker success).

As for the "Sharpton & Farrakhan" joke, I do think the BCA has a legitimate beef with ND and college football in general.

ESPN was pretty hard on Bill Callahan this year, but Texas Tech did drop 70 points on them and that's something to get on him about

im sick and tired of hearing wilbon on espn bash the irish. hey you fat f***, you went to northwestern, a school that is so piss poor in athletics, that to this day they still talk about when they beat the irish 9 years ago as if it just happened. this guy is a bum who has no idea what football is about. he said all of the irish fans need to get realistic and realize the irish cant win like they used to ever again, F*** YOU WILBON!!!! Come to the campus and get your A** kicked.

whoa, easy bro. The thing is, why not honor a contract? if you're not going to, whats the point of having one. The truth is, they treated Ty like garbage. Sure he didn't win as soon as everyone wanted. But still, it's the principle of the thing. Ty was a good man. Now we're back at the beginning again and if Urban doesn't win (assuming he'll be the coach), Notre Dame will look like a bunch of assholes, even more than they do already.

Why weren't they bashing Ty when Syracuse(a team without half our talent) blew us out last year. Why weren't they bashing Ty after any of the 31 pt blowouts to Usc. But then they bash Callahan after 1 season. they never seem to mention how Callahan is doing an amazing job recruiting.

Who honors contracts anymore. Ty will get his money, I don't feel bad for him.
If the next coach isn't getting the job done then we'll can him too, we'll keep canning them until we get the right one. I could care less what ESPN says, and what that fat idiot Wilboun says.
For the record I think Urbans the one....
