Very cool.
I hope these become our special "green" road jersey to be worn once a year along with the green "home" at our neutral site game.
Wish they kept the all black shoe though.
I've got an all black shoe complex.... it's all I buy.

Too much Chris Webber and Fab 5 for you back in the day....

Are these unis "throwbacks" in the sense that Addidas wanted to make them look retro/oldschool, or have these uniforms been worn at some point in NDs history?

Anybody?

Helmets were worn from 1959-62.

Jerseys were worn briefly in 1959 I believe.

Socks are new. As are the shoes obviously.

I have been watching OTL First Report, and the first story concerned Maryland's outrageous uniforms. They made a comment about ND and Michigan's uniforms for this weekend, saying that a lot of schools that sport classic-style uniforms (like ND and MU) are going to pick up this fashion trend soon. I could never see ND sporting such ungodly uniforms. Although money talks and when you are talking using this as a recruitting tool as well, some schools may feel it is a risk worth taking. Again, I do not feel ND would abandon it's classic look but I wanted to read some other opinions.

Dang!
I got my jersey in the mail today and it's way too big.
The guy sent me a XXL instead of the L I ordered.

Other then that, it's pretty sweet.
It has the national championships listed on the inside of the jersey.

I'm going to wear it Saturday night then try to return it for the L.

i got mine today too, love it! also, in 09 Alabama used pro combats for one game. they did a very good job and only made minor adjustments (including the now famous gloves) but they looked great, i would welcome a throwback game like this every 2 or 3 years

I'll order mine if we win. :)

If you can't get the vendor to let you return it, PM me on that 2X. Let's make a deal.....

i love the Notre Dame uniform, and as long as they never go over board with the special occasion uniforms, i'm 100% in favor.

does anyone know the details of our Adidas contract, specifically length?

doesn't Michigan have adidas also?

re: Nike

I hate them too. with a burning passion. but there are two things I will always love about nike: Air. Jordan. I would spend 500 bucks on a pair of blue and gold Air Jordan XIs... all blue base with gold patent leather shining like the helmets, and a gold Jump Man logo. Good God that'd be the best thing ever. their uniforms are miserable looking.

Cool thing from "the Helmet Project" website: Upside down shamrocks? Bizarre

The Helmet Project
notredamepic.jpg

*1 The shamrock helmet logo was introduced in 1959 by Notre Dame's new head coach Joe Kuharich; it was used through the 1962 season and replaced with white numerals the following year. Ara Parseghian brought back plain gold helmets in 1964 and the team has continued to use those ever since, which make this the longest-running unchanged helmet design among the NCAA Division I-Football Bowl Subdivision colleges (Alabama has occasionally used white helmets during this period).

When was the upside-down shamrock design shown in the photo below used? If this photo is from the 1960 season then the helmet shown would be a candidate for addition to this web site, which covers the period 1960 to present. My suspicion is that this design was used in 1959 only, and perhaps only during the early part of that season.
