5.74 forty time?

Please tell me his high school doesn't make him run, ever. That is terribly slow. He needs to get that down to a <5.2 forty.

An offensive tackle's straight line speed is pretty much irrelevant. Unless the guy is running a 4.7 40 there's really know need to talk about an offensive lineman's straight line speed.

He's not going to chase down any defensive backs like Tony Boselli did but having straight line speed for an ot is irrelevant. Hes just slow oh well.

Being that slow would imply that he's fat rather than strong. So while the stat itself is meaningless, what it suggests certainly isn't.

Guys? When the hell are you ever going to see an Olineman running down field 40 yards?

I want to see his shuttle time. And his 5 and 10 yard dash times. Initial burst off of the line... not 40 yards. Geez.

hanratty from this years class reports a 40 of 5.85, granted he's 300+, but still that means he's a guard not a tackle in our scheme.

That is entirely my point.

all im saying is i was a 5-8 no talent white kid i didnt feel comfortable as an athlete till i was in my early 20's(then i drank that away). i cant imagine being a 6-7 290lb 16 year old and getting anywhere in a hurry! lol! it also speaks to that article that the big time programs over the last 20 years or so probably wouldnt let this on the field till he was a red shirt junior hence giving him time to grow into a man.

I absolutely agree with that too. I think we're taking wayyyyy too much out of my comment hahaha I just remember when I was in high school and I ran a 4.9 as a 6-2 255lb guard. But this kid is good enough for Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Ohio State, etc., whereas I was only MAC-level. It was just an initial "holy crap 5.74 forty is not fast at all." But I know nothing else about the kid, he may have the fastest cone time in the country. haha
