- Kyle Rudolph will be kept entirely out of practice this weekend, then will return and practice normally beginning next week
- Other injuries: Anthony MacDonald (hyperextended knee), Ian Williams (infected toe), using caution with concussed players, Dan McCarthy (hamstring)
- Kelly is not concerned about any of these injuries and all will be ready for Purdue

- Kelly on Tyler Eifert: "He's as good as I've ever coached." Chuckled and responded, "Oh yeah, oh yeah" (you could tell he was thinking about the possibilities), when asked if Eifert was continuing to impress. Said that he "hasn't really coached Rudolph, yet" so if he's impressed with Eifert, wait until he gets a load of Rudy.

- Alex Welch has picked up the offense very well, and Jake Golic ("Jake has the ability to play at Notre Dame") is coming on, as well.

- Kerry Neal is the starter at the "DOG" position at linebacker, now ahead of both Filer and Brian Smith. Kelly: "He'd be the starter if we played tomorrow."

What's going on w/ Brian Smith, first Filer take the position from him, and now Neal?? I think Smith needs to have a HUGE season this year.

He'll have to stop talking shit in order to be a productive member of the team in my opinion. It's one thing to talk....It's quite another to back it up. He hasn't.

Agreed. Best for your mouth not to write checks your actions can't cash.
