It really is too bad.Greatest basketball coach EVER, and from everything I've ever seen of him, a heck of a guy.
He finally gets to see his wife again after a long 25 years. Godspeed Mr. Wooden.

It's a sad day for America, who lost one of its finest gentleman in John Wooden. However, I can assure you Coach was ready to go - he can now reunite with his wife, Nellie. With him, America lost, I believe, the best coach it has ever had (which says a lot knowing that I from Green Bay - home of Vince Lombardi, as well as a huge Notre Dame fan). What is so cool, is that as good of a coach as he was - he was a better person.

If anyone get's the chance, read his last book on mentoring. I forget the title, but it is unbelievably terrific!

at 29 years old i obviously never saw him coach and its crazy to read that during games he never realy got out of his chair. he looked at it like a teacher and gameday was the test! growing up watching the likes of Bobby N, Huggins, and Phill Jackson that seems so inconcievable but yet the guy managed to win 10 straight Championships!

equaly incredible is that almost weekly for 25 years he wrote a letter to his departed wife.

just an incredible story this man's life is!

I was fortunate enough to have seen Coach Wooden in action several times- once when I was in high school, and the rest at ND. He always enjoyed coming to South Bend. I'm sure most of you know that he grew up in Indiana, and played at Purdue, but he also was head coach at SB Central High. Win or lose, he was always a classy gentleman.

He had his first coaching job in Dayton, Kentucky, a mere 5 min from my house, I believe the gym is named after him.

Greatest overall coach of all tine, and a damn good person too. RIP coach Wooden
