My brother and I are both home on Christmas break, and we have been trying to decide All-Decade teams for the NFL, MLB, and NBA. We started talking about the college football all-decade team, but never ended up finishing. It is a trickier subject than the pro leagues due to players being able to play only 4 years at a maximum. I think the positions should be awarded based both on excellence and longevity - a healthy mix of both. I may come up with a full list later... but I am interested to see if anyone wants to share their two cents.
QB: Tim Tebow (UF)
RB: Reggie Bush (USC)
RB: Darren McFadden (ARK)
WR: Calvin Johnson (GT)
WR: Michael Crabtree (TT)
TE: Kellen Winslow (MIA)
LB: AJ Hawk (OSU)
LB: Paul Poluszny (PSU)
LB: Patrick Willis (MISS)
CB: Pacman Jones (WV)
CB: Terrence Newman (KS)
S: Ed Reed (MIA)
S: Eric Berry (TENN)
I didn't do the lines, because I didn't feel I had enough knowledge about linemen earlier in the decade to have actual good guesses. No ND players on my list, unfortunately. I'm sure I'm forgetting some great players. I gave the nod to Pacman because of his true shut-down ability - he doesn't have the stats to match some of the decades other great corners. I also gave Ed Reed the nod even though he only played two seasons in the decade - he was dominant in '00 and '01. Berry is just too good of a player not to give him the other safety spot - although Sean Taylor was also fantastic. I'd love to see other people rip apart my picks and make their own... haha. Enjoy...
