I'm pretty new to this site and a returning ND fan. Anyone have any comments on ND's player situation over the last 2 years, now, and for next year. Of course I already know about Weis, Clausen and bowl game.....just wanted to get a quick refresher on some key attributes and pointers on what type of team we have now or have been lately. I hear some reports that maybe defense is lacking, but offense has been. Any thoughts anyone?

What team we have now as in moving into next year is up in the air to a large degree. Recruits may come and go and of course G Tate and Jimmy C have the opportunity to get drafted pretty highly. It is widely believed that Jimmy will go for sure. I think Tate will as well.
With regards to our defense, there are major issues, the over all speed and skill of the LBs and secondary are no where near up to par and the size of our d line is just not good. With Martin probably leaving we need to find some mroe talent to be able to effectively stop running attacks with out blitzing or moving our safeties into the box.
With Crist starting next year we should have a pretty good offense though.

I wouldn't pencil Crist in as starter next year. Love the guy, and what he brings, but we really have no idea right now. If Meyer comes, look for Goodman or someone else to be in the mix. Just thoughts...
