Civil War

This is what it is like for us, Notre Dame fans. We are attacking each other and this isnt the way it should be. But it has to play itself out. You wont convince me Weis is the man for the job...I wont convince you he isnt. So be it. I think guys like Tim Brown, Zorich, ect are some of the best in Notre Dame history. Obviously, I'm also a big Bettis fan...and loved him with the Steelers. But that just shows my age. So be it. I, for one will be glad when this plays out and we all unite once again. But i dont think it will for awhile.

Just watching this game makes me sad for those that believed so much in Weis. I know we argue but Weis supporters are getting a dose of reality week in and week out. He brings in great recruits. he is one of the worse as a coach. There is no argument there. This is just sad to watch for Weis supporters.

Weis has only beaten 1 team in the top 25. He has a losing record against teams that finish with winning records.

His goals for this season: Beat USC, Get into BCS, Finish in top 15

He failed at all of those. Why should we keep him? Because we might not be very good next year if we have a new coach? Well we're not very good now, we just beat teams that suck. Why put off the inevitable? We should just get rid of him and move forward

Oh and Weis is also a lazy ass. This is how he coaches practice.

He sits in a chair on the sideline and berates players if they don't score. Meaning, when Jonas Gray doesn't make a touchdown in a goal line situation, he tells Jonas how he could have even scored on that play.........from his chair. He doesn't even get out of his chair.

After we lose to Pitt if there is still a Notre dame fan that thinks Weis should stay on as coach...he should be banned as an irish fan and be a USC fan because he obviously doesnt care about the Notre Dame program.

We just don't have it under Weis. Too uninspired and sloppy. Recruiting has been good, but it isn't enough. I applaud CW for his charitable work, but he hasn't proven worthy of his contract.

Sad to see. Hard to watch. Weis just flat out sucks.

Right-on.....I see we will be 7-5 who knows what bowl game we get into, unless we lose to U-Conn. It's going to be sad that we are no better than last year. This team falls apart in November, Get rid of Weis & get Jon Gruden or Brian Kelly...........There is no way in HELL we win against Stanford, we will be lucky if we beat U-Conn....The Fat lady is singing people..........

Did we have a chance to win at the end of the game?

Yes, we did. You don't let go of your Coach if that happens.

I say don't put off the inevitable. People criticized Florida for firing Zook. Florida decided to not put off the inevitable and take a risk (similar situation to ND right now) and look how it worked for them.

I'm not sure in which way I feel bad for you.. A> that this program in the state its in is satisfactory to you, or B> you must think that Charlie is the greatest ever because no one will be able to replace him.

I think the lack of progress means charlie should be fired, but the ones who will really hurt from this will be us, the fans. it only means we have another 4 years to wait until people think we should be good. in the mean time we have to deal with 4-8 5-7 and 6-6 seasons. That's not something we as notre dame fans should have to deal with. we need it to be like back in the day when an 8-4 or 9-3 record was a "down" year

i dont know anymore...

i dont know anymore...

I honestly don't know what to do anymore. Since I was a tot I bled blue and gold. I don't know what to make of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish anymore.. in 2005 it looked promising, but now we are the center of attention due to our blundering coach on the sideline. I don't know what to do. We have been CLOSE every game but with an offense like this we should have won every game. If Charlie leaves so goes the best quarterback Notre Dame has ever seen too, and maybe even Golden. Will bringing a new headcoach restore us to glory? National Championship? Will that ever happen? From tonight my thoughts have just been simply no. I don't know anymore. I thought this would be a great year but it has gone downhill sharply. I just want ND to be relevant again. I don't want to almost beat an elite team, i want to BEAT an elite team. I want to be an Elite team. It seems Weis' entire head coaching career has been based around almost's. Oh but we almost beat SC. Oh but we almost be PITT. HOW ABOUT WE FUCKING WIN??? what do i do? I have considered just giving up for a while.. I just don't know how this could possibly turn around. I feel like we will never dig ourselves out of this. I don't know.

the grade standards need to be lowered but Notre Dame and most of us know football isn't life right? Y then does Notre Dame treat it like its more important then education and if they really cared that much then lower the grade standards for football players.

I don't agree that we have to be down for years. Good coaches can get their players to excel no matter what. If we have most of the same players, a new staff can get much more than 7 wins out of them next year, assuming it is the right staff.

How about what the players want?

How about what the players want?

Charlie has not lost this team. And no matter what is said, that should send a strong message to everyone concerned. The Irish play for him and do not quit. To a man I have no doubt they will tell you that he is THEIR COACH.

Is that worth another season? I think so. With the 2010 schedule and the currently 6th ranked offensive yardage producing squad in the nation, and a couple of top canidates for the 2010 Heisman Trophy, if they tank in 2010, CW deserves to be let go.

Unless you want to sign up for the flavor of the month in coaches to take over this program, as there is NO LONG BALL HITTING coaches out there regardless of what their CURRENT season shows, and start the process over at the risk of another "give him five years, then judge" scenario, then it may be time to sit tight.

Tonight the 30th plus ranked team in the country took the 12th ranked team in the nation to the wire. And if it were not for a BS call in the fourth they may have won. Why, because the players have not given up on their coach or each other. And that has everything to do with CW.

I don't mind winning close games... But when you lose to Michigan, squeak by Purdue, Washington and BC... Those are teams you need to blow away. Hell even USC this year.

We had 3 straight top 8 recruiting classes, even with the stricter standards. I love the ND guys, but we aren't a top 10 teams even with best recruiting classes we've had. Lowering the standards isn't the answer.

i can see clausen and tate, especially tate leaving this year either way.

i can say at this point that i think the writing is already on the paperwork its just a matter of time.
