Manti helping physical presence?

I can see Manti increasing the physical presence of the defense in the future. He brings intensity as well and sometimes all it takes is one guy to help turn things up a notch. Could he be that guy? I realize the DL is where it starts so can they improve enough to be a solid defense next year? Once Manti knows the playbook I see him doing very well at middle. His added weight means he isn't as agile and quick as this HS video but he has the physical prowess to play inside with the bulk.

He has definitely helped the Linebackers. I am always skeptical of true freshman coming in and making huge impacts but with him in there you definitely see a difference. Brian Smith has been more active and with a healthy Fleming they can only get better

Just my opinion....

He's got to stop seeking out, and taking on, offensive linemen, when he blitzes. I've seen him, quite a few times, try to take on a guard or tackle and get tied up, instead of blowing by them and pressuring the QB. I realize that, when he was in High School, he was probably the biggest kid on the field almost every week. This is big boy football, you are not going to run over an offensive lineman from USC, Manti. Play smart, and you will be great.

I like Toryan but I think his lack of burst speed is what hinders him.

Teo looked awesome. He was out of position twice from what I saw but had the speed to recover and still made the play. Big hitter and sure tackler. Although he should have gotten a flag for that flex but that's neither here nor there. He looked good from this end. Now you need to get him some help.

I'm sure he would've stopped if the ref was nice enough to go up to him and tell him to. Unlike a certain USC player. lol

He should have known to not do it after a certain USC player got flagged for it before he did it.

Problem with the certain USC player - he did it - was politely warned and then almost seemingly continued to do it to the ref - up goes yellow. If you are on your sideline and do it running off or into huddle it doesn't get called like if you do it to the crowd, hold it, turn, then the band, and then the ref.

Saw the same thing. But I tell you want wants he fine tunes those area's watch out, because he is for real. Finally we will have an LB that will become a household name.

I really want to see Te'o at RB of FB on the goal line or in short yardage.

Leave the running for the runners please.

Well he is a pretty good runner if you look at his highlights. I think he could be a Brian Toal like player on the goal line and while our short yardage running has definitely improved, we still struggled with it against USC. With his quickness, I don't think many people would want to tackle 245 pounds flying at them on the goal line.

He'd have to change his number....Same as Armando. :)

Manti isn't going anywhere. Just think of how much money he will make in the NFL and how much good he could do with that money. He will wait to go on the mission so he can use that money to help people out.
That is what I feel he will do anyway.

Teo is in his 1st year, next year he could really give this defense an indentity and step forward as it's leader.
