I don't have a parking pass, so what's available and any recommendations on best choices? Coming in from the south on US-31.
I lived on Howard for a year - 2 blocks away. Been parking in that lot for 5 years. The old guy now sees me coming and gives me my spot near the sidewalk so I can always get out even easier than it normally is. This guy parks 50 cars - he not gonna fuck upon his permit (which was only required this year). There's a park (kiddy) another block further away ($20) and it's owned and run by the parks department. This old man sits in the lot all afternoon during the game - safer than the street and I did that for 3 years. $10 can't beat it - it's South Bend near campus - not the Orange Bowl. This lot has a group of about 10 cars called the Sluggo Group - they grill and are there every single game it's their tail-gate. For the 1st 2 years - the boy asked me when I arrived: You with the Sluggo Group? I'd park my 80 year old mother there with her old lady friends. Do what you want - but I tell all my friends who I wouldn't want to have pissed at me there.
You can go one block closer on St. Louis and park in the church lot for $20 concrete.
White Lot sucks - After the game I walk unimpeded to that lot - drive south to Jefferson and I'm in Elkhart 35 minutes after the game ends. No traffic that way. I could be at the Mishawaka toll road exit in 18 minutes. Lived in Granger for 24 years and I'm an alumn. I can get you to Niles - along the river in 19 minutes.
And the new area with band and kid's activities is on your way to the game-South of DeBartolo.
