When Notre Dame took possesion of the ball with just over 3 minutes on the clock, I turned to my wife and said, "If Clausen is going to go down in Notre Dame history as a legendary QB, then he is going to drive us down the field and win this one for us right now!" Sure enough, that is exactly what he did. For me, that drive, the way JC handled himself, the maturity and the poise he showed, the GUTS he showed, woke up the echoes of the great ND quarterbacks to come before him - Montana, Mirer, Quinn - ALL of these had those defining moments of greatness, moments where they picked up the team, put them on their back, and said "let's go!" Jimmy Clausen is going to leave this school in two years from now as one of the greates quarterbakcs to ever wear the gold and blue, and whether or not he wins a Heisman trophy, he will forever be remembered as a true hero to the entire Notre Dame nation.

Thank you, Jimmy, for adding such joy to our lives - we all live and breath Notre Dame football, and your heroic effort against Purdue last Saturday night provided us with another wonderful moment in Irish history that we can all cherish......forever.

WOW and just think 2 years ago Jimmy Clausen was this 19-yr. old punk, snotty kid who came into South Bend with his limo committing to Notre Dame. In 2006 against UCLA when ND came back w/ 62 sec. left I yelled out at that game that I could not wait for Clausen. Clausen has shown this year that he has improved as a team leader, has matured on the field, and shows that he cares about his teammates. I hope all of ND nation will learn to appreciate Jimmy Clausen.

I wondered if Clausen could live up the hype, or even approach Quinn's records. It looks like he can do both.

Guys get back to me on this as I have seen it enough to want any response. Media and even supporters have said this guy didnt get it done against mich. Maybe I was watching another game but I saw nothing he left undone- hell he took 'em down the field to go ahead with 3 plus minutes left in the game. Are there people out there that are so missinformed that they think the last 2 times they had the ball he failed to respond. Those situations are not what you judge him on-you judge him on the TD drive and thats why he came to Notre Dame. The end of the game is like flipping a coin-sometimes you do and sometimes you dont. Notre Dame should have never been in that situation. You cant ask this guy do any more than he has this year. I just hope its tuff toe and not something else and he has some gas still in the tank. This is a very fine college QB.

Dayne Crist...not your turn yet.

Dayne Crist...not your turn yet.

and to think last year people wanted him benched for Dayne Crist

I remember those threads Jason and to think if we would've started Dayne Crist....what a disaster that would've been. Crist has a lot of work to get up to what Clausen is. Fan's can't forget thought that Crist was red-shirted, having a year to learn the system while Clausen was not red-shirted. Clausen is our guy and Crist clearly showed against Purdue he is inexperienced.

The defense didn't get it done. Nothing on offense was to blame for that game.

And he made 3 good passes at the end of the Mich game, 1st one should have been a Pass Interference call, 2nd one should have been a completion if Shaq turns his head when he is supposed to and the 3rd one was a bullet to Tate who should have fallen to the ground and given us one more play. What more do you want the QB to do? Cover the opposing WRs!?

Guys, what has Parris done THIS year to make you hate him so much? Get over it. Every time he's brought up, you act like he plays for Michigan or something. He's caught every ball thrown to him so far this year, and is a valuable 3rd down receiver for this team. Stop acting like a jilted lover and give a Fighting Irish football player some love for a job well done. If he drops that pass, or doesn't sell the deep route (and yes, I laughed and I told me wife that I couldn't believe that the DB thought a white guy with no speed was going to beat him deep), we probably lose this game.

Thank you Robby...well done!

Honestly, I think it was all the Samarzdja comparisons that were thrown out back before the 07 season. I really don't get the hate directed at him either. So far THIS season, he's done all you could ask for.

Parris is not the second coming of the Shark. I wish he was, but the guy has worked his ass off, and is an under-appreciated leader in our WR corps.
