While I agree completely with the sentiment of your post, I had to point out this one fact: ND is NOT Michigan's "biggest game of the year". It's not even close. Michigan plays this team from Columbus, OH, every year, that is a pretty big game for them. Dare I say, even a bigger game than ND?

Thanks for pointing out the obvious kmoose (it wouldn't have sounded as credible from a Michigan fan like me). I'd only add that Notre Dame has not been the red-letter game on USC's schedule for years (I think that distinction has most recently gone to Cal, at least during years when USC doesn't a play bigger out-of-conference game ... i.e. OSU this year), and ND has never been Michigan State's big game. I'm pretty confident that MSU fans would gladly agree to lose to ND for the next 100 years if they could beat Michigan in 51 of those years.

And not to be too much of an A-hole about it, but I think some of ND's rivals like UM and USC could make the same argument about being a big target on each of their annual opponents' schedules.

I can say for a fact that to USC it is 1)UCLA 2) Notre Dame. Rivalries tend to change depending on who is winning. If Ohio St was down and Michigan was struggling to beat Notre Dame then the rivalry becomes much bigger to the fanbase. Right now i would say most on here think USC is the big game. USC will always be a big rival but depending on who is up or down as a program, games become bigger as a result.

No disagreement historically, but in recent years, Cal has been the only team that has semi-consistently gotten the better of USC, and I think that has fueled the rivalry (just as the MSU/ND rivalry was fueled by MSU's recent, albeit historically misleading success).

But I'll plead bias ... I live in the SF Bay Area, so I have to hear alot about Cal.

But they don't play on national TV every week. And you live in the SF Bay Area. You and I are going to have some serious beers. I meant alcohol. I meant discussions pertaining to goats and the overall effectiveness of goats to the "green" thing.

LOL.

I live in Marin County California, and get every UM game on National TV (between ESPN, ABC, and BigTen Network). The only reason I would ever tune in to NBC on a Saturday during football season would be if the UM/ND game was on that channel that day ... and I'd have to have it muted, since it provides the worst college football coverage of any network.

But kudos on that mystique.

But you choose to make the effort to tune in to an ND website.

Touche.

All for the beers, but in my case, they'll be vodkas.

And again, I have no interest in being an A-hole, I just like tip-toeing that fine line. ;)

So "interest" and "hobby" don't.... um ...

Good thing you aren't interested in your hobby.

OK. look, do you have a good looking sister or not?
