I don't know fellas. I don't think that Crist should have equal reps with jimmy but he should be given the chance to compete for the job. How do we know that Crist is not prepared and hasn't learned the playbook by now. If he has learned the playbook by now...well then let's compete, that is what football is about, right? Don't tell me that Jimmy is the savior, nor is Crist but he should have the chance to be. Competition is a win-win situation. Crist wins the competition, we have a better quarterback, Crist loses the competition, we still have a better quarterback because Jimmy is now being pushed to better his skills. If the competition continues, once jimmy is gone and crist is starter, he will be the best man for the job hands down. That is why i think he should be given the opportunity to compete. Come on, don't tell me that weis is married to jimmy on a 7-6 team? With this schedule, every position is up for competition, regardless of who you are.

I agree, but this is what we are responding to:

if Dayne doesn't get plenty of reps preseason..... I think we are in trouble

Of course the competition for every spot should be up for grabs, including QB. JC is and should be the favorite to win the job. QB is the hardest and most important position on the field, and the experience that JC has gotten over the last 2 years, plus the immense talent and progression he has started to show, make me confident that he's the man to lead this team. My argument w/ Leahy is that our success will not be predicated on whether or not Dayne gets plenty of reps. It will help us if JC gets hurt, and it will help for our future, but if we lose to Nevada it won't be because Dayne didn't get enough reps, I'll tell you that much. I hope he does get his reps, and we use the model that has worked so well for USC in the past: Incumbent stud gets the job while the apprentice learns behind him for 2-3 years, then takes over and continues the winning tradition...

I hope that ND gets some of the teams down BIG TIME early (like 'kick the dog crap out them' big time scoring difference) in order to let players like Crist, etc. gets some game playing experience; possibly throughout the whole 4th qtr. Then again, after the "melt downs" last year (Navy, Pitt, Syracuse) the whole 4th qtr. me be asking too much!?

I think Weis very well maybe married to Jimmy Clausen, because you have to face it fellas, many of the games that were lost were due in LARGE part to Jimmys interceptions.... and sharpley never even seen the field in those situations, sad to say. For reference, see BC, Michigan St, and North Carolina. All huge costly TOs that IMO, cost us those games.

I agree Crist should get plenty of reps at QB in order for Jimmy to at least see that he doesnt own the position, and if Jimmy fucks up, put the big guy in there. It cant hurt..... competition breds excellence. Many athletes play at their best once they have been benched.
