ND ended up with 17 recruits, which was the 2nd fewest in the top 25. And the did end up 24th overall. Also these finished 8th or 9th in the average ranking of their recruits and all by one of these schools recruited more players, between 7 and 10 more. No one denies that there are quality players in this year's class, but we are talking about ND, and why we recruit 10 fewer than Alabama and 7 fewer than LSU concerns me. It appears that you aren't considering that the top 10 recruiting schools yesterday make up most of the final top 10 teams at the end of the year. ND finished 47th.

First, the real stars were Ty's recruits. Second, ND got their asses kicked, and shouldn't have been in a BCS bowl. Finally, beating Hawaii this year to end the longest bowl loosing streak in NCAA history is a relief, but no great shakes. It appears you have set the bar for what you would consider a great ND football program fairly low. Last time I checked, teams didn't win trophies for recruiting the top player in Hawaii.

1) You rip on our intelligence, yet you are so ignorant that you couldn't find one of the Fire Charlie threads all over the site and you came on a recruiting thread to bag on Charlie's coaching. And you continue to do so even after it was pointed out to you!

2) Several = "being a number more than 2 or 3". You said the past several years the offense has been less than acceptable, which is basically Weis' entire term. CW's 1st 2 years the offense was friggin' great. Were you complaining when Brady was here (well, probably, because that's what blowhards do). The offfense was awful 2 years ago, with a bunch of freshmen and sophomores having to do the job that Ty's recruits couldn't do. Last year the offense was fantastic for several games, and bad for others. That's what happens when your line sucks and you have nothing but sophs and freshmen running the show. But it showed signs of greatness against several teams, including North Carolina and Mich St.

3) "It's all about what you do with the talent you have, not the talent you have." That is so not true. It's a combination of both, and any person that has ever coached will tell you that. If you don't have the athletes, then you ain't winnin', period. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken shit partner. So you better be getting the athletes if you want to win. Why in the hell do you think NSD is like a national holiday in the south? BECAUSE THEY KNOW YOU NEED ATHLETES IN ORDER TO WIN!

Now, after you have the athletes, then it's all about what you do with them. And we all know the last 2 years that CW hasn't done a good enough job. However, unlike you, we know how to navigate a simple website so that our complaints are heard in the right thread. You're the type of guy who answers every question with "It doesn't matter, because CW sucks at coaching and he's fat", regardless of the question. Real original pal.

4) Clausen will be fine. He's a stud, you'll see. Oh wait, know you won't because you're too biased against CW. He's definitely NOT middle of the road. Before teams adjusted to ND's offense, he was lighting teams up for 300-400 yards a pop. Then teams took away Floyd and Tate, and the coaching staff didn't adjust (us smart ones bitched about this in the COACHING threads). Then Floyd got injured, and things went from bad to worse. Plus he played 3 games in a friggin downpour. I was at one of those games. He would have lit up Michigan for 300+ if a Monsoon didn't hit at the end of the first half.

5) I'm still waiting for your definition of a 'new recruit'.

So you think Clausen is a stud. I agree he has a lot of natural talent and I do hope he matures into a quality quarterback, but I doubt he will. I further doubt he will be the starting quarterback by mid-season next year. Why, you ask. Let me tell you. He had two (2) 300 yard games this year, against Stanford (28-21) and North Carolina (24-29). And, I assume that you are talking about the 3 and 9 Michigan team. The one that lost to Toledo. Wasn't that the worst Michigan team ever. Is that the Michigan team that you are bragging about him "lighting up". He passed for 147 yards against Michigan. Let's see now, in Clausen's last four regular season games he had two (2) touchdown passes and eight (8) interceptions, and the two touchdowns were against Syracuse (3 and 9) and we still lost. It gets better. Against the two ranked teams (BC and USC) he was 0 TD passes and 6 interceptions. WOW, what a stud. Against USC he had a total of 41 yards passing and ND didn't get a first down until the last play of the 4th quarter. Combined score of those two games was 55 to 3.

Here are the facts. Clausen has talent, but is not a leader and can't relate to the other players on the team. Further the other players resent him and think the CW treats him differently than he does them. If that doesn't change, Crist will be the starter, sooner rather than later.

They got killed on the national stage against USC.

The schools in the two 10 in the final national rankings (LSU, Ohio State, Alabama, OK, Texas) all recruited 25 quality players, give or take. That works out to almost 50% more talent to work with than ND recruited. Do the math.

I hope I am wrong and the Irish kick ass next year and every year after. I will come back and beg everyone's forgiveness. I will use small words so LA can understand. At this point, CW appears to be nothing more than an arrogant version of Davie and Ty. He has a lot of proving to do.

I agree with alot of what you say Indiana Joe. Trust me. You can ask anyone on here. What alot of people are trying to tell you is simply this: We have too many BASHING Charlie Weis threads and its getting old. I'm pretty much in the same boat with you that Charlie hasnt proved anything to me besides he's a pretty damn good recruiter. I think what you need to do is start being a bit more positive like I'm trying to do. See some positive things instead of the negative. Now I'm not saying that I'm perfect cuz I'm far from it but what I am doing is trying not to be so damn negative on this site or in my personal life. First of all, how do you know Clausen does not relate to other players on the team? Are you in the locker room? Do you hang out with them on weekends? I love when people claim to have inside knowledge of the inner workings of the team and think they can read in to the personal lives and feelings of the team based on what they think they see on the field. How the hell could you possibly know what goes on with Jimmy and his relationships with other players and the coaching staff? If you do have reasons, then back up your statement with some evidence. If not, then don't make assumptions like that. It just makes you look stupid.

Second, in regard to the second line I put in bold, even the cursory reference to Nazism when referring NDinL.A. and the rest of us, is beneath even a complete douche bag like you. It is way out of bounds on a sports board and, if you were to say something like that to me in person, you and I would have some serious problems. If you have to stoop to bullshit insults like that, go do it on a USC board because you would fit in well with those asinine meatheads over there.

And that was his THIRD year in school. And in his 4th year, behind an outstanding offensive line and a great running game, he suddenly turned himself into a 'lottery' pick. 1st rounder. Colt McCoy's stats as a sophomore? 22 and 18. Were you calling for his backup to play before last year like the dork you are? If you did you would have missed this year's 34 and 8 campaign. JC's stats this year? 25 and 17. Yup, better than Colt's , way better than Sanchez. I agree with alot of what you say Indiana Joe. Trust me. You can ask anyone on here. What alot of people are trying to tell you is simply this: We have too many BASHING Charlie Weis threads and its getting old. I'm pretty much in the same boat with you that Charlie hasnt proved anything to me besides he's a pretty damn good recruiter. I think what you need to do is start being a bit more positive like I'm trying to do. See some positive things instead of the negative. Now I'm not saying that I'm perfect cuz I'm far from it but what I am doing is trying not to be so damn negative on this site or in my personal life. For me its hard because there's 7 months of cold dark snowy winter and the offseason is too long especially the last 2 years.

Bring something else to this board that is postive and you will get positve feedback. Bring something negative and you....well you know. Just trying to help ya out because from what I have read from you it seems like you know what you're talking about. Maybe me and you should go to counceling??? lol lol.

It's not about being positive and negative, at least with me and some of the other posters. It's about backing up your shit. When you come out with: "F*** Charlie!!!! He's fat! JC is overrated!" after we miss a field goal or something, then yes, you get negatice feedback. But when you say something and back it up, even if I disagree, we'll just have a discussion, but nothing vicious. If we were all rosy and agreed with each other and said ND is king no matter what, how stupid would this board be?

But NDOM, when you come out with opinions without the anger, you actually have proven to be right a lot. Like with your Mike Brey comments. I'll admit, I pussed out there. I think he sucks (only because his team won't defend), but I didn't want to write it because i hadn't watched enough games. But you nailed it. Props. Indiana Josephina could have simply stated how badly CW sucks on another thread and it would have been all good. Peace...

First of all, how do you know Clausen does not relate to other players on the team? Are you in the locker room? Do you hang out with them on weekends? I love when people claim to have inside knowledge of the inner workings of the team and think they can read in to the personal lives and feelings of the team based on what they think they see on the field. How the hell could you possibly know what goes on with Jimmy and his relationships with other players and the coaching staff? If you do have reasons, then back up your statement with some evidence. If not, then don't make assumptions like that. It just makes you look stupid.

Second, in regard to the second line I put in bold, even the cursory reference to Nazism when referring NDinL.A. and the rest of us, is beneath even a complete douche bag like you. It is way out of bounds on a sports board and, if you were to say something like that to me in person, you and I would have some serious problems. If you have to stoop to bullshit insults like that, go do it on a USC board because you would fit in well with those asinine meatheads over there.

Last, but not least, making a drug reference to NDinL.A. is also way, way out of bounds and just proves the level of ignorance you exude and points out how lacking in actual football knowledge you are to go for the lowest form of insult because you cannot back things up with actual football discussion. I happen to know for a fact that NDinL.A. is a respected educator and he deserves to be respected for that alone. To make offhanded accusations like that to a teacher who has done nothing slanderous to you is something I believe is reprehensible.

Back up your claims about the team with facts and evidence not opinions and conjecture. If you want to sling unfounded and inflamatory insults go do it somewhere else.

Well said GO IRISH..... funny thing is i actually agree with some, not all of the things Joe has said, just like NDOM, but the complete bashing of a good poster and people who respect his posts is just out of line. And like NDinLA said, If your going to bitch about something, go and do it in the proper thread, aka "What do you hate about Charlie Weis" or "Fire Charlie" threads are on the site. look em up, they are out there.
