2010 Gardner lands Notre Dame offer

ESPNU 150 Watch Lister Devin Gardner seems well on his way to be one of the nation's most heavily-recruited QBs in the Class of 2010, and he added to his already extensive offer list this morning when Notre Dame informed him he had a scholarship offer.

Yeah... and what happens if we have an Any Given Sunday moment, lose both of them, and then have the SUCKY Montana kid take the snaps against USC? Always, always, ALWAYS have three scholarship QB's. ALWAYS!

Don't know why we'd even offer a dual-threat qb though. We already learned our lesson with what happened to double d 2 years ago. Charlie's offense is geared towards drop back passers, so we should stick with that. Anything different requires a different offensive scheme and a lot of practice and preparation. I'm hoping we get either Jake Heaps or the younger Montana next year.

agreed but i think it would be pretty cool to see an offense like texas' when vince young was there at notre dame.

The article I read said this kid is a "pass-first" dual threat guy. Supposedly he can throw and then run if it breaks down, I don't think we would have offered him if this weren't true.

It's also called stacking the depth chart with talent. We don't need to have gaps in years between QB's. CW is trying to set ND up like USC. A new QB should be taking over every two years with 2 years of "experience" with the playbook. That's how you avoid huge drop offs in production and wins, have the next guy lined up with the mental side of the game already mastered so he can step in and just have to put it into practice. So we need to take a QB like every other year, unless there is an absolute must have guy in one of those "off year" class'.

Don't we have Nick Montana on his way here? I see he doesn't have an offer yet from us but I assume since every Montana kid has come to ND we would get him. I see rivals doesn't have him ranked, but then again Rivals just dropped Shaq out of the top 100 and to 26 on WR list and Cierre to 76 overall.....What a crock of shit.
