i disagree, nd needs to play big names and is one of the few programs that has the opportunity to do it every year. we were always complaining about teams playing north carolina a&t while we played a tough schedule now we are playing a garbage schedule the last few years and it does not end up creating great teams. you have to beat the best to be the best, if we cant hang with teams like texas on a yearly basis we shouldnt be in the bcs games. cause i sure am sick of getting the tar beaten out of us when we do get to those games.

ND plays a big game every year in SC and gets its a$$ reamed. Are you familiar with the phrase "help me find my keys and we can drive out"? Navy???? Syracuse????

Donkey dicks. And roosters (taste like chikken). Yeah the thought of avoiding anyone is gruesome, but scheduling the best every week is just damn suicidal. Establish a solid program first, then bring on the big boys every other week.

agree. we just arent there yet. texas in the future maybe is alright if we can start winning consistently, but even then, we need to replace an okay team like Michigan st or pitt to play them, not a syracuse team. why the hell would any team schedule the best of the best every week? its just not smart if your trying to win a national championship.

I wouldn't worry about ND scheduling a powerhouse every week. 8 or 9 years is a long, long time in college football. 8 or 9 years ago Tennessee and Florida St. were top dogs. If ND still bites in 8 or 9 years, half this board will be in the booby hatch. They don't get NBC in the booby hatch, so don't sweat it.
