I read that Greatwood is leaving Oregon since Chip Kelly has been named Belloti's successor. Kelly may assume the Head Coach position as early as March. Greatwood is being honored as the OL Coach of the Year by the AFCA and is a great recruiter. He recently is a finalist for the Cal-Poly Head Coach position, but that is going to Tim Walsh.

Any news on interest in Notre Dame?

I think we have room for Prince as OC and Steve Greatwood as OL coach. How great would that be?

Jappy Oliver was assigned to recruit the Pacific Northwest while he was here. If we brought in a Greatwood as OL coach. He could use his regional ties up there to recruit an area where we need a recruiter. Seems like a whole bunch of things line up here with him.

Wouldn't it be considered a lateral move for him? I know ND compared to Oregon is much bigger, but the position is still the same. This guy left because he obviously wants to be a head coach, and even interviewed for a HC spot at a small school. So to be another OL coach might not do it for him? To be an offensive coordinator would be a move up, however even that would be window dressing considering we all know who will be calling the plays. Not saying you guys are wrong, I'm just wondering if he would want to be an OLine coach again, as opposed to moving up the coaching ladder...

He might not be a long term solution. But who knows? Did anyone really think Jon Tenuta would be available as a F'N Linebackers coach last year? Maybe the exposure of turning the ND Offensive line around on NBC every Saturday will be the easiest path he has to a College OC or Head Coach job?

Tenuta is also the assistant head coach - which i believe justifies his salary in comparison to other position coaches

He's not...yet. He says he could be gone in 2 years, maybe 3-4 years, but not much after that. He will then become the A.D because he really doesn't want to coach forever (unlike Bowden and JoePa). They didn't want to lose Chip Kelly, so they made him the coach-in-waiting, which is the en vogue thing to do...

That is what I thought but the post at the start of this thread said Kelley could take over by March.

Sorry, didn't see that. News to me as well. They didn't say anything like that at their bowl game...

After Bellotti and Kelly announced their future role changes to AD and future Head Coach on Dec 8th, two Oregon coaches, Michael Gray (DL) and Robin Pflugrad (WR) were told they would not be retained when Kelly becomes Head Coach. “(Bellotti) told me to look for a job,” Gray said. “I’m thinking, well, he’s probably going pretty soon. You’ve got to read between the lines and say, he’s probably looking at leaving this year some time. June, July, February, whatever. Whenever it’s going to be, it’ll be probably before next season. Bellotti has said he won’t make a decision until March. "

Greatwood began interviewing but did not get the Cal-Poly job.

"Changes at Oregon
The Oregon staff is undergoing change with offensive line coach Steve Greatwood leaving; Greatwood will be honored as the national offensive line coach of the season at the convention. Is his departure a sign that offensive coordinator/head-coach-in-waiting Chip Kelly will assume command sooner rather than later for Mike Bellotti? Don’t be surprised if Kelly is the Ducks’ coach this fall, with Bellotti becoming full-time athletic director."
