Please he has straight out lied to recruits to get them to go to UF, I don't believe Weis does that. You think Meyer cares about academics as much as the University does? I don't, I think he would do anything to get players to come here even if it meant bending the rules. And yeah Tebow's a great kid, but how about you give his parents credit for instilling those values when he was a kid. But I guess then you should blame the parents of the UF player that stole a dead girls credit card, yeah great kid there. Look, I love ND football but I wouldn't want a coach that could even remotely tarnish what the school itself stands for just to win football games.

All those players who have given Flordia problems have been dismissed from the team. Remember, ND has had many problems with players too. within the past two seasons, the university has had players caught with weed, given DUIs and underage drinking charges, and soliciting prostitutes......AT NOTRE DAME. so dont say meyer is the only one recruiting shady players, he recruits good football players, as do we. his just seems to get more from them and win more games.

IA, I know you scour the Internet, so go look up the problems FL players have had in the last 3-4 years. It PALES in comparison to what ND players have done. It's not even close. The underage drinking, for example, is a South Bend problem, in that the city's cops are so damn anal over that crap. That goes on in EVERY college town in America, on every team. The Florida players' problems are just...wow. And yes, they were kicked out of school, but it doesn't dismiss the fact that FL and Meyer recruits those kinds of kids.

Meyer recruits BETTER football players than we do, because he has a much wider scale to choose from. CW recently has closed the gap, but not on the defensive side. Meyer can recruit those guys that can't spell 'quarterback' but they sure as hell know how to get to the QB. CW simply doesn't have access to those guys.

I think Meyer is a fantastic coach, but don't think he ain't a bit shady. Dude goes after 'playas' (did you see the difference in size on the FL players in comparison to ND? Damn!), regardless of character, 'cause he wants to win. No talent = no wins. He's no dummy...

Ok NDinLA, i agree that flordias problems are a bit higher on the scale than NDs, but i cant say that it is because of the coach like many on here make it seem. He is a great guy, and cares about his players and the decisions they make. He recruits good football players, and some of them might have a mean streak but dammit they win games. I wish Charlie did have the access to players that Urban has, but he doesnt. It sucks, and i will continue to say ND needs to lower its academics standards to what they were in the early Holtz era.

I really hope charlie does well next season, every single game i hope he has the guys ready and out coaches the other team. But if he doesnt produce good results, and just produces mediocrity, i hope that ND's administration looks into what meyer has to offer and gets a gauge on his interest in coaching here. Its all IMO, many of it coming from statements made by Meyer.

I know this thread is pointless for now, but i will bring it back up next season if charlie doesnt produce whats necessary. Its all irrelative if charlie does well, but we will have to wait for the results.

1. Honesty.....yeah, he told Trattou if he came to Flordia he would play for a national championship team. Trattou believed him. I bet charlie told him the same thing. Whos farther down the dishonesty scale on that one? His players showed just as much class in winning as any other team i have seen, including my beloved irish.
2. Lower academics? seriously LMI, we are back to this again? you know i am just never going to agree with you on this one, along with many others.
3. Morals.....yeah he has had his players turn out real bad. You know, Tebow speaking in foreign countries and prisions about faith and God. Devote Catholic if you dont remember correctly.

And a biggy you forgot to mention...................winning! For the love of God winning. I like that one alot, maybe you dont.

1) He told Trattou that ND was going to use him as a down lineman and that he would never play in the pros as a down lineman and thus Urban would not put him there. Where'd Urban put him?

2) Back to this? Sure if you want to lower academic standards and allow JUCOs.

3) Tebow is a great kid. Let's talk about his relative moralism. His Bobby-Bowden-esque style of discipline.
