I heard that Meyer was quitting UF after the NC Game to come be OC, I hear from a well placed source that Omar will be coming as well.

I heard Omar has a career ending injury and is going to take the job as OC.

I'd love to have Larry Kehres. If you don't know who he is, he's the head coach at Divison 3 Mount Union College. He has a regular season record of 162-2 over the last 16 years and has won 10 national championships during that time. Don't know much else about him, but that's an impressive resume.

Knowing the massive giant that is Mount Union football, if Weis brings on Kehres it will be with a complete change in philosophy. Mount is a spread team and havn't taken a snap from under center in roughly 2135156 years. Nate Kmic just broke the NCAA career rushing record with a little over 8,000 total rushing yards and year in and out Mount can play ball.

Hell, I'd love to see him leave. So would the rest of DIII. @#%^ it, let's sign him so my alma mater has a chance to win a freaking walnut and bronze.

i really doubt urban is coming any time soon. id say wait till 2012 or so. he said to be nd's head coach it takes time. time away from the family, ur recruiting on day in hawaii, the next in new hampshire, then down to texas the next day. he said hes going to be a good father before he will be the good coach. so im guessin he wont be coming until his kids are done with high school. as for the o.c. it may not be that big of a deal. i mean i preferably dont want cw callin plays. screen left, screen right, 9-9-9 split end 9 (for those who have played football yall would prob know that one) but if we do bring in someone just for o.c. we would have to bring in a rb coach too.

I just read that Mike Singletary won't be retaining Mike Martz in SF next year. I highly doubt that Charie Weis and Mike Martz could co-exist (those are some monster egos), but there aren't many better offensive minds out there. If there's anybody who could turn around our offensive woes, it's Mike Martz. I also think that Armando Allen (or maybe Cierre Wood) is fully capable of playing the Marshall Faulk / Frank Gore all purpose back role that is necessary in a Martz offensive scheme and Jimmy Clausen would certainly thrive with the spread WR sets.

I believe that a offensive coordinator and Charlie Weis cannot
co-exsist. So I think we should move B. Parmalee to running backs
which he played in the NFL. Leave Charlie as the OC. Then go get a really
great Oline coach to work with Tight Ends and Offensive Line.
With the money saved for an OC you can probably pay a ton to get an
awesome OL/TE coach.

I just threw up in my mouth a little bit and my dog ran and hid behind the couch where she usually retreats to on ND game day. I can't stomach another season of screens and lob passes. I'm done with Charlie's play calling. I'm ready for something different.

the mandatory criteria for this hire are: (1) do not promote from within; and (2) someone who has been an offensive coordinator before - no promotions of running backs coaches on teams that had good running games.

How about Major Applewhite?

He has previous OC experience at Rice and Alabama under Saban. This kid could be the spark plug the Irish need, because if he coaches anything like he played, ND could have a winner on it's hands. The only problem is if Weis can give him or any other coordinator full reins of the offense without any looking over his shoulder.

in case you missed it:

the announcers said that weis has commented on the fact that Weis will go out of the program to find an Offensive Coordinator (good) and will most likely retain play-calling duties (bad).

Sounds like we have another year of screen passes and failed run plays on 3rd down.

Its funny all the hate on CW's screen passes..I agree he calls too many of them but what about afta 2days game? He called the game to almost perfection..It helps when the o-line blocks and the running game displays some kind of threat.!!

funny thing how those screen passes and lobbed passes won us this game after we all have mutually agreed that they don't work and were dumb aha

Mooney I will agree that run play on 3rd and 6 was just stupid, sometimes he just doesn't make sense.

That being said, I believe Charlie has used the screen almost in place of the run. If done correctly I don't believe it's a bad thing. The screens forces the defense to a. stay at home b. sets them up for the deeper or medium passes. In tonights game the gameplan was played to perfection and the offensive line looked great. I admit in the past that we haven't looked the greatest over the last two years. In 05 and 06 those screen passes looked good though. I think Charlie can still call plays, I liked him being in the booth.

In regards to the screens, he did exactly the same thing in NE.
