names on jerseys

maybe i am old fashioned but WHY THE F!!!! do we have names on our backs today? i have only seen this once since the 80s and it was when lou holtz let them do it in the cotton bowl.

that team deserved to have that accolade for just that one game, this team needs to become more of a team and not worry about the names on the jerseys, that name should never be on a notre dame jersey in my opinion.

I'm not a fan of it because its a team game and it sort of individualizes it. I guess I'll have to deal with it for this game. Heck, if we win, I won't care if it continues for a while.

I understand that it's tradition to not have names on the jersey's, but it's not like it's never been done before. I'm sure it was something that was voted on, so if the players voted to have names on the jerseys than I'm ok with that.

Besides it's nice to have your name on your jersey, I know it's something I'd want especially if you get a win and finally end the bowl game lossing streak. Live at little.

Oh I don't know....Yes the greens are depressing, but man it would have been sweet to wear them. I could care less about the numbers as I'm sure most on the site would say. If you are fans like us you probably know the names of players by heart.

got a heads up from someone in the game thread that its something that ara started for bowl games. i was not aware of that, but if that is the case i guess i cant complain.

its good to give them something for the bowl game but then again this is christmas eve not new years day

i like the greens, have no problem with them wearing them. i dont believe in those negative superstitions with notre dame

I seem to recall Montana's name on his jersey in the Cotton Bowl. Also Clements in the Sugar Bowl. I am sure all the players had their names on too, I could be mistaken on the recollection. We did comment on that tonight when we saw the names.

Yeah I started with WTF but as the game went on and ND moved the ball I thought it really doesnt matter!!
Some of NDs play was brilliant to watch and even without nameplates we really couldnt have played any better.
Keep the damm things if this is the result

i'm not in favor of it...but i LOVE the idea for the bowl games...maybe that's a little better way of inspiring the guys - their bowl game jersey with their name on it...whatever the reason - they won the damn game...hell if it works put their phone number on them
