I feel bad for Yeatman. He endured a thing that many college freshmen have gone through. Only they were not an Irish football player. You gotta be aware of what you are doing (where you are) and the consequences. I do think that Rudolph may make us forget all about that. I think he is a stud in the making.

Amen, Rudolph is legit. He's gonna have a year of getting bigger and faster, and his blocking should improve as well, which it already was throughout the season (according to coaches). With his hands and his speed, he's going to be a special, special player...

Aware of the consequences of being in college and drinking ONE beer? The University's egregious mishandling of the situation should force us to NOT "forget all about that." This was a classic example of the change in how students are treated by the administration over the past decade - for the worse. After seeing how Yeatman (and the other students involved) were treated, why, as a high school recruit, would you want to go to notre dame?

I certainly agree with your feeling of sympathy for Will. I wish him the best wherever he goes.

OH! My bad. I thought that Yeatman had been convicted of a DUI and then less than 6 months later got caught drinking with some under age students. (Golic). I am not saying that he shoud have been black balled but I was saying that he and any scholarship athlete should be aware what they are doing and of the consequences. He got another chance just as most would. He then got into more trouble and chose not to deal with the consequences. I dont think he is a bad guy or deserves to have his life ruined but he made more than one mistake. It appears he made about three or four. He was on probation, which means no alchohol. He was contributing which is a violation in addition to the other violation. Plus he did it where he could get caught. HE should have kept his butt out of trouble until he got done with his sentence. I think he still was allowed to stay in school but I am not sure about that. I really do wish him the best and I am sure he will get all of that behind him and move on.

Was it minor? Yes. But the University and the Judicial System are two different things. He had a probationary sentence from court.

Well, since he was only 20 I guess he could not be guilty of contributing to underage drinking. However, my point is that he had a probationary sentence (a court order to receive a suspended sentence and maybe even a diversion) he violated the terms. The University did not mistreat him. He was suspended from the teams but not school as I understand it. If the University had dismissed him why would he need to ask for a transfer?

How does USC keep all of there players? I mean they have a lot of depth in every skill position. I never really hear about their players transferring...........

why transfer when the school is paying you to stay.....look at reggie bush.

i'm kidding of course cuz i don't know if what i said was true.....but it's usc and i can't stand them.

Yep. We need to police ourselves.

LOL. How USC got away with this is beyond me. Yahoo Sports did a whole expose on the situation, and they had documents and everything you'd think you would need, but it just kinda quietly got swept under the rug. Of course, like I said in another post, Reggie Bush was this close to coming to ND, when Pete Carroll magically pulled him from underneath our noses. There were whispers out here that his stepdad was dirrrrrty, and it came out to be true (nice house in San Diego they suddenly owned!). I guess if you can cheat and get caught and STILL get away with it, why even stop???
