He still has a 10 year old and teenager at home. Oldest daughter is heading to GT to play volleyball next year..

This has started to become a little clearer to me. As stated before Meyer will come eventually but not until 2-3 yrs go by. In the mean time its Charlie and much the same with a good yr (8-4 ) thrown in. The wild card is Lou and would he consider getting things right for a man he is fond of and was once a sound asst coach for him at South Bend. What people dont understand is that Notre Dame is willing to wait this out because of the $$ productivity of the program. This hurts us as fans because we love the school so much but to the decision makers its business. Meyer is exactly what Notre Dame needs if he truly feels its his dream job. The coach at Notre Dame must keep a good public front while behind closed doors he tells his team its us against the world. Thats exactly what Lou did and Ara before him. Keep a nice profile to the public and tell your players were going to tears the hearts out of the guy across the field. Its Meyer guys only when is the issue. I say 2-3 more yrs. And I would love to see Lou come back for a short time regardless of his age. I guarantee we wouldnt blow a lead in the 2nd half against NC,Pitt,Syr or get boned like we did against BC. Charlie should give everyone a break and bow out, stay in the family and be recognized as a guy who gave his best but it was just not good enough.

Good post....dont think Lou is coming back though.Urban is the answer for this college IMO as well. I dont hate charlie at all, i think he really loves ND football and understands the university....he has just underperformed as a coach and needs to go. No hate at all, just the facts. Urban gets it too, just doesnt get admissions....which actually charlie doesnt like the admissions either, see Baldwin from last year.

What I dont want is to hear all this prep for next year and when Nevada beats us or we win by 5 pts that all is well and were going to be decent to good team in 2009. losing should never ever be accepted at Notre Dame, and under weis's play calling and game prep, it has been accepted.....im actually starting to think some players might actually dislike weis, but they arent allowed to say anything because they would probably get kicked off the team by him.

Kids on a team not liking a coach would be VERY strange! Some of my best coaches in HS I hated at the time because they made you work hard and were always on your ass. I am sure every back-up who thinks he should be starting dislikes weis!

Yeah, well im hearing rumors some players wouldnt care if he left....and when i was in HS, no one gave a damn if your 3rd string or 1st string, we respected our coach and liked him because he knew what he was talking about because we won. no one cares about conditioning when u win. charlie isnt winning, he is losing, not only games, but the hearts and minds of his players.

Great post, reps to you. I have said this before, but I think Urban Meyer will coach Notre Dame, it just wont be next year.

For those who don't know, Urban Meyer was never offered the HC job a few years ago...this coming from a Very reliable source..anyways, I do think Urban does want to come back to ND and wants to lead us to the promise land and become a legend. He just can't do that at Florida. If CW doesn't win 9-10 games next year, expect Urban to be our new HC..he will bring the fire and charisma our team so desperately needs...O yea, he's kind of a good recruiter...

Trying to inquire about other coaches interest in being the head coach at ND was never even considered by the ND administration. not a weird pipe dream in Urbans mind, more like a dream job. but hey, why not continue to suck at football huh?

In that meeting Urban wanted to take JUCO's and ALOT of tweeners academically into ND...CW only get only 1 maybe 2 tweeners a year...Urban wasn't stupid and he saw the cupboard was bare and went to FLA where Zook recruited crazy talent..Maybe I'm wrong LOVEMYIRISH cuz I've always respected your posts..

Well, let's see...for Urban to talk about JUCOs and "tweeners" there is a reason...he was made an offer. You are correct that he saw the cupboard was bare and his wife wanted Florida, so he turned down ND. However, you can only turn something down if it was offered.

Urban Meyer was offered the job. turned it down because he was smart and seen the cupboard bare, coaching credability would go down the drain in two years because ND wouldnt give him the players he needed to win. Good call on his part, but he still loves ND. you can shut dowb the thread but keep it in the archives i will bring it back up in 2010 when notre dame gets smart and actually looks into new coaches because No coaches turned down the job this year.

Agreed that is a nice find. But I 'll be honest with you. I dont think that he will wait until all his kids are grown up.
This is how I see the scenario playing out. I think Charlie will get this program back to going to BCS bowls, much like he has already done. But we wont be able to break through to the title game, and eventually the administration will get fed up. Charlie will last another 3-4 years, and at that point, Urban will come. He will have won a 3rd national championship at Florida and will be bored.
Of course this is all just a guess and I could be completely wrong, but I wouldnt be surprised if something similar to that happens.
For those of you who say Urban will NEVER come to ND, with all due respect, I think that is being naive. He is only 40 years old, probably will coach for another 20 years or so, so to say he will never come here, well how do you know? Can you get me the powerball numbers too? That would be fantastic

#1=FAMILY. Just the type of coach notre dame needs, a family man who understands what should come first in life and instills that value in young men.
#2=LATE offer from NOTRE DAME! love this one because its a new one and can shout up the haters who said he should have came here 4yrs ago if he really wanted the job. meyer said when ND finally did offer he was already "in the 11th hour with Flordias offer." Notre Dame jumped in the race when it was almost finished. Nice.

HAHAHAHAHA. yea, im going to bring this back up in a year when i assume Charlie finally gets the boot and Notre Dame want to get a GOOD HC, and look to every possibility to find the best candidate for the job. who is there waiting but a man who has all the genius, heart, and intangibles to make notre dame a national champion once again. (playmakers check, nationally recruiting power check, and a chance to be a legend forever in football history check) LOVE IT!
